Hey!

Please help me find a restaurant or home to watch the Everblades tournament next weekend and the 1/9 game against Sucks! Manhattan or Queens preferred. I wanna be surrounded by The Faithful. Any ideas out there?

I too am interested (can't make it down to Florida this year...at least not at a price that's healthy for my wallet), and I looked back to some of the ECAC/NCAA playoff threads to see where folks had gone.  I'm too lazy to check back again, but I remember Blondie's being mentioned.

But being that the tourney's over the weekend, I'd much rather watch someplace closer to home (Nassau/Queens border), so I was thinking about places on Long Island.  I had a good experience when I went to Strike (http://www.strikelongisland.com/) to watch the b-ball game vs. Georgia Tech.  The place was pretty deserted on a football Sunday afternoon, and they had no problem putting the game on one of the screens for me.  No sound however, as the main speakers were still feeding through the football games that were on all the other main screens.

I don't know places well enough in Queens or elsewhere on the Island to suggest where one might accommodate some Faithful.

Anybody have ideas?

Haven't people had good experiences at the ESPN Zone in the past?

Beeeej suggested Riviera on 7th Ave and 10th when I asked him.  Apparently a bunch of folks went there for the televised Yale game.  I am back in NYC for the holidays and am looking for a place to watch Saturday (family plans Sunday).

We should probably double check that any place does get CSTV, since they are a new network.

Craigola

If a place gets DirecTV, it should get CSTV. I think CSTV is broadcasting on DirecTV via Channel 610. It would be awesome if we could find a place where we can hear the game as well. Announcer abuse is the next best thing to abusing the opposing team in person.

So, any ideas? Where did you all watch for the ECAC's and NCAA's last year?

I'm more than willing to call around to a few places tomorrow to see about accommodating a small group....I would just like to narrow down my list of places to contact from "bars in NYC" to something a little more reasonable.

I was in Albany and Buffalo for the ECACs and NCAAs last year, respectively and in a friends living room in California for the earlier rounds. So I can't really give any ideas from last year other than what I've been told.  Places where I think NY Faithful have gone in the past are Blondies (79th near Amsterdam), Riveira (10th and 7th) and maybe ESPN Zone. Unfortunately I haven't been to any of these places (moved to Cali 3 years ago and am only home for holidays during hockey season).

From scanning previous threads, candidates seem to be...

Rivera
ESPN Zone
Joshua Tree -- 3rd and 35th
Ship of Fools -- 83rd and 2nd
Park Avenue CC -- 26th and Park
Blondies -- 79th and Amsterdam

If anybody (if anybody's actually still out there listening and interested;-) ), let me know if you have a preference.  I plan on calling around later tonight to see if they're cool with putting the game on.

Thanks.

Blondies may put the game on, but without sound.  They are an NFL place, and since there are saturday games this weekend, forget about getting it with sounds.  I've been there for NFL games, and they advertise as having every NFL game on TV (which they do have since they have 40 something tvs).  So you may want to skip it for hockey.

Well, due to lack of responses, I think I'm going to skip NYC entirely.  Without any sort of decent group, I probably couldn't get the game with sound; and I don't need to trek in the city to do that...I can get it on a screen at a local joint near my house like I did for b-ball vs. Georgia Tech.

Any Faithful out there want to meet me in Astoria for revenge against OSU? Pizzeria Uno (35th Ave. and 38th Street) will show the game. Sound is doubtful. I'll buy the first round! Suggestion: Go to the Museum of TV and Radio before the game (two blocks away).

Hey!

Just testing! The Museum of the Moving Image is in Astoria!

I'm up for meeting in the city as well...I may be there for some college hoops games at MSG anyways, so it would be fun to watch with some other Red fans. I think Jordan would be there too if enough people found a common spot. Any suggestions other than Pizzeria Uno, or is that the front runner?

I'd gladly do Pizzaria Uno, but realize that's not in the "city" (meaning Manhattan).  I may head into the city anyway, because even if I'm watching with just a few others, I don't mind no sound that much.  But this time, since the game isn't until 7, I definitely will call some places and see what they can do.

Nice win today...I'll post some updates tomorrow.

the Cornell - OSU game is at 4:30 tomorrow, not 7:00.
