Cornell looked great vs Harvard. Nice! Sorry for the late post.

Losing 7-1 to BU, whose starting goaltender is playing his third game at the NCAA level and is still wearing his old team's pads, at TD Garden and having to put in your backup sieve after your starter sieve lets in 5 in the 2nd period... what can I say except HARVARD SUCKS?

Not sure where else to note that Mark Carney,  the new Canadian PM Designate, was a backup goalie at H in the 80s.

Interesting. Does that mean that his politics are progressieve? :-D

Here I am, all excited to see Harvard's roster get shredded by an apparent ban on international students (look, you gotta take joy in what you can), and all but seven guys on their roster are American.

And only two on their women's roster.

Everything is the worst.

Um, let's just hope he doesn't target Cornell next. Because that would be a de facto death sentence for us.

Yeah, I mean, all of this is Extremely Bad, and while Cornell Hockey is not the most important priority in the grand scheme of things, it'd certainly be all sorts of doom for Cornell Hockey.

I'm anticipating that we continue to have a very successful program actually

Are you really that surprised? I don't recall Harvard ever being quite as dependent on Canadian players as Cornell has been historically.  It's been closer to 50/50 US/Canada (plus the odd Eastern European here and there) in recent years but it wasn't that long ago that we had some recruiting classes almost entirely from Canada.
Is next year here yet?

losing 7 players off your roster right before next season is an absolute disaster so I disagree with the original post anyway

Even if Harvard quickly gets a temporary restraining order against this ban, it will have a chilling effect on international students (and athletes) applying to Harvard.

Fortunately, Cornell does not appear to be close to receiving a similar penalty by the Trump administration, as the ban on international students  (which Harvard will immediately litigate) follows several rounds of back and forth between Harvard and the Trump administration. Columbia previously received a letter of demands and acquiesced. Harvard received a different letter of different demands and chose to fight. Cornell hasn't received any such letter. It appears President Kotlikoff understands how much hinges on staying out of the crosshairs of the Trump administration. As he recently told the Sun: "I will say we have not received a letter like Harvard... I will say that one of my goals is to not receive such a letter." He has been back and forth to DC to put in a good word about Cornell.

It is a quarrel in a faraway land between people of which we know nothing.
