Hey guys, after we beat them 3-2 last fall, we should have done the following cheer:

"3 points is a field goal, 2 points is a safety, safety school, safety school!"

That's a great cheer and not the least bit completely fucking retarded.
Especially since that's the exact cheer the Harvard band used against us the last game in Allston...before we beat their ass in the final 5 minutes.  ::banana::
It turns out they they all played for Harvard in the early 90s (Ian Knish?, Bejamin something and something something).
Ian Kennish.  Decent utility guy, nothing special.  And probably Ben Coughlin, who actually scored a fair amount.

Can't help you on the third guy.

Any of you guys that have been following the team for (quite) awhile remember Harry Reynolds from '69-'71?

I found one article so far in which it listed Harry and his 3rd-line mates as providing the fore-checking and a goal to upset #1 B.U. to make the ECAC final in 1971.  I am just curious because I play goal in a pick-up skate with him.

Harry seemed to try a little harder when I wore my Chabot #1 red jersey the other night.  I noticed he switched from the dark jersey he had on into a white Harvard practice jersey so he could play against me.  He always wears his original Crimson pants, too.  I shut him down though.  :-)

I liked him better when his name was Knish.  [Burp.]

I prefer to think that Harvard has failed to fail to suck.

CU at Stanford

I don't work for Stanford (Hahvahd of the West, some would say) anymore, but Harvard still.....

SUCKS.

Boston-bound in three days! ::rock::

Sadly, we appear to have lost that one, 8-1.

Great find, though.

Well, I would say that Stanford is more of a Cornell of the West, given their origins:

I'm just glad AD White didn't take the bait.

Anyway, Uncle Ezra's version is corroborated with the Stanford website:

QuoteThe first student body consisted of 559 men and women, and the original faculty of 15, seven of them originally from Cornell University, was expanded to 49 for the second year. From the beginning, Stanford was co-educational and, like Johns Hopkins and Cornell, followed the German model of providing graduate as well as undergraduate instruction and stressing research along with teaching. Dr. Jordan installed the major subject system with electives at the outset, rather than the more common rigid curriculum of classical studies.

I seem to remember hearing that the CU Physics faculty was more hostilely raided by Stanford a few decades later.

Personally, I get more of a Cornell vibe from the UC Berkeley campus than I do from Stanford.

Having just finished a cross-country roadtrip and having wandered U-Dub's, Reed's, Stanford's, Cal's, CalTech's, Texas's and USF's campuses, I'd say Stanford's stood out as the most gorgeous and unique.  I really do like Mission Revival architecture, but it wouldn't belong in Ithaca.  Our beloved alma matter's is the nicest campus I've seen though, no question, and in no small part due to the lack of uniform style.  Cornell's randomness is one of my favorite things about it, right up there with the lack of Federal-style buildings.  God I hate the Federal style.

Eclecticism is one thing... ugly is another entirely.  I could do without

Old Rusty
Olin Library (which replaced the gorgeous Boardman Hall)
The "new" Roberts & Kennedy (which replaced the gorgeous old Roberts and Stone)
Clark Hall

These ones are the only ones that really "offend" me.  Bradfield is ugly, but far enough away that I don't really care.  The Ives extension could do with more windows, but trees will make it less stark over the next 20 years.  Olin Lab (the chemistry lab, not the chem-e lab) is reasonably well-hidden by trees on one side and by Baker on the other.  And thankfully, Duffield, while not the most beautiful building on campus, is at least not butt-ugly and has succesfully hidden most of the 50's hideosity of the engineering quad from the rest of campus.

Even the new west campus dorms aren't too bad.  Sure, I would rather they had completed the original planned exterior for west and just rearranged the interiors to better support community needs, but at least they aren't ugly.  They are a strict upgrade from the U-Halls.
I'd say Stanford's stood out as the most gorgeous and unique.
All a matter of taste.  To me, Stanford is one long extension of the Taco Bell aesthetic.  Despite their best efforts to destroy it, Cornell still gets my vote, although they are about three more buildings from the ugly, interlocked feel of an urban campus.

I've heard people say that before, but I totally disagree.  The U-Halls were bland but ignorable;  I find these new things to be ugly and in-your-face, even from the top of Libe.  Given the choice of two ugly things, I'd rather go with the one I won't notice.

I rather like the look of Caltech's campus (what there is of it).
