Season preview later but some updates on the incoming class.

Isaiah Cortez (USA) and Alessio Perentin (Italy by way of NJ) wrestled at the U20 World Championships in Bratislava over the weekend.

Cortez took silver at 57kg, beating China, Kazakhstan and Uzbekhistan before falling to Russia in the final. Cortez was the silver medalist in Greco last year and is the first dual-discipline medalist for the USA at the U20 championships.

Perentin took 5th at 74kg, losing to eventual silver medalist Jayden James (USA/Penn State) in the main bracket. In repechage, Perentin beat Slovakia and Belarus before losing to Kazakhstan in the bronze medal match.

At the U17 championships last month, '31* Arseni Kikiniou didn't place in either Greco (0-1) or freestyle (1-1). He medaled in both disciplines last year so I'm sure this was a disappointing result.

there was apparently a falling out between shapiro and the coaching staff that couldn't be remedied. he's taking a gap year and coming back to wrestle for nebraska in 2027.

yes indeed. according to wrestlestat, he's at Spartan Combat RTC this year. That list isn't totally accurate - Michael Turi decommitted and is going directly to Bloomsburg instead - but it does have a number of future Big Red I am hoping to see good things from (Jeter, Verrette, Traves).

Until the starters are named I'm going to hold off on a season preview, but we do have some early rankings. If there are rankings, might as well publish the chart. Not everyone has preseason rankings out yet. If you see new rankings, feel free to shoot me a DM and I'll update the preseason rankings chart. Obviously the wrestlestat ELO rankings for frosh are based on not their having wrestled an official match or from the dubious competition they get at various second-tier opens during their greyshirt year.

Ferrara and E. Cortez both get ranked by separate media outlets; starter TBD. The Dellagatta brothers are the only Cornellians ranked at their weight, though the starting position is TBD at 184 and 285 as well afaik.
