Checking in on the defectors:

Cournoyer has been great through two games with a .935 sv%. But the other half of Wisconsin's goalie platoon, Hauser, has been even better with a .972 sv% through two games. I'm sure they'll continue splitting time. Of course, Cournoyer gave up a guaranteed starter role when he transferred out of Cornell.

Robertson has 2 assists through 6 games. Sounds not-so-bad until you realize Michigan has been blowing everybody out with by far the most impressive offense in the country, averaging 6 goals a game.  Having ditched Cornell, Robertson may well win a national title this season as Michigan is currently ranked #1. But in so doing he gave up his role as quarterback of PP1 and a top pair defenseman, and is now a background player on a team stacked with stars. He will surely not make the NHL at this rate. Still, he is valued by the Michigan coaching staff and leads the team in ice time, even if he is no longer an offensive focal point.

Pelletier is scoreless in three real games at BC after scoring 2 goals in their exhibition game. But his ice time of over 16 minutes a game suggests the coaching staff sees him as a top-6 forward. He also has gotten PP time I believe.

Robertson may be concentrating on his defensive skills.  As talented as he was as a high production D, the guys in that role in the N are from another plane of existence.  Perhaps, like Manderville, he is repurposing himself as a tenacious and responsible defensive role player who also has some offensive threat if the opportunity arises.

I wish him well.  If you played here, you're family.

It is difficult for me to imagine that Robertson is leading Michigan in ice time but not playing an important role.

Correct. I tried to say that above. But he's no longer a focal point of the offense. I presume he is getting no PP time at all. Michigan has elite underclassmen defensemen who are averaging at least a point per game and Robertson has the least production of all defensemen. And at this rate he is going not going to sniff the NHL as an undersized defenseman.

Robertson in a more defensive role for  Michigan is, yes, going to take some of the shine off of him, but could be key to the team's success this year. He could
still project to be a late-round value pick.

What sort of draft is this?

eligibility issues aside, i do think he starts with an AHL contract after he graduates and will need to earn his way up. someone will take a flyer on him.
