I'm trying to not engage with this stuff but you're feeding the anti-Cornell trolls with this type of thing. Can we please not root for players who bail on our team? I know you don't mean it in a bad way/view it differently but not sure we need to be openly celebrating the success of guys who quit on us.
buddy you need to accept that people feel differently than you do about Robertson leaving. not everyone has been sworn to a permanent blood feud. he didn't divorce you.

obviously some people think that transferring out is not an unforgivable sin. we got two good years and he made a choice that he thought was in his interest. sounds like normal human behavior.

as is yours, to be clear, but jfc stop lecturing everyone about how much more bitter they should be.
Not telling anyone to be bitter. Just asking if it's really necessary to be celebrating his success on Michigan. At this point I'm trying to take the middle ground and just ignore him.

to be very fair BL, you did kinda mention in the Casty/Walsh thread that there are a ton of considerations to going pro early vs finishing at Cornell. many of the same apply to transfers. he made the decision he felt was in his best interest, as a hockey player and as a person. I don't hold a ton of ill will for that - especially because Veilleux is arguably better side-by-side.

I don't really go digging in Mich stats to point him out either - but when he has a good game in front of my eyes, well, I'd be remiss not to mention it.

(and as for the trolls - tbh the worst troll we've had before reopening the forums was arguably me or you lol, I forgot we have newcomers now 😂)

I'm not hating on stereax, I think it's good to be positive even if I fail at it a lot. I gotta say though that rooting for dude who transfers out feels very out of whack as a sports fan. He didn't divorce me but he divorced my team! Let's try our best to ignore our exes.

Quote from: stereax on March 29, 2026, 05:53:34 PMThe "Screw BU" song turns into "Let's Go Blue".

Actually that's probably the original version.  I believe BU then adopted it as "Go BU", to which we responded "Screw BU".  Although, TBH, the BU version may have come first and Michigan adopted it.

We added the "XXX, too" at the ECAC tournament at the Boston Garden in 1981.
I was at that tournament.  We beat Colgate in the semis, lost to Providence in the championship game. Fun trip to Boston and the Gahden.
"What... is your favorite color?"  "Blue. No, yel--auuuuugh!"

I get it! but I suggest assuming the lotus position and finding inner peace instead.

Robertson with the assist on the the game-winning goal for Michigan for the trip to Vegas. Go Blue!

Go Blue indeed. Ben doing what Ben does. His blast on the first goal was impressive but not as impressive as the redirect.

It was easy to enjoy his goal with 2 seconds left on Friday. But the others are better understood and enjoyed on replay.

I definitely do take solace in the fact that Robertson has been disappointing this season at Michigan. The fact he went to a team with twice as much offensive talent and quarterbacked PP1 (after their former top defenseman got hurt ten games into the season), yet somehow put up worse numbers than his freshman year at Cornell, is pretty funny. He gets little to no hype from scouts (he actually got far more hype two years ago). There will be no NHL career for Ben Robertson. I certainly hope getting to the NHL wasn't his reasoning for transferring, because from that perspective it was a clear failure.

But since you wish him failure that is what you wish for.

Quote from: stereax on March 29, 2026, 04:25:37 PMNext up, I wanted to do something that I didn't manage to at LP - try some Stewart's ice cream. I housed part of it down with my face in the container at the bus stop... and had the rest this morning. Unfortunately my freezer liquified it but it was still DELICIOUS. 10/10 would recommend.

Having grown up in the Mid-Hudson Valley, I'm very sentimental about Stewart's.  A couple of Decembers ago I took the family there on the way home from snowshoeing in the Adirondacks, and they had a special called "July in Christmas" where you could get an ice cream cone or cup for a dollar or so.

Quote from: stereax on March 29, 2026, 04:25:37 PMDidn't know the Biergarten was right next to the diner that y'all recommended as well! Chose the Biergarten.

Maybe I'm just used to real Polish cooking, but another disappointment. Still pretty good - the onion rings were quite nice - but an entire sausage with sauerkraut and mustard shouldn't have tasted basically only of the mustard. I'm sure they numb down the kraut for American consumption, but it really wasn't that sour. And why is the wurst almost tasteless? The bread was nice - very light and flaky, almost croissant-like. But c'moooon.

I've found Sauerkraut in Germany to be less sour than what you get in the US, which makes the flavor less obnoxious.  But the bratwurst should be flavorful.  I'd blame the mustard.
