Next year we REALLY gotta make one thread for the awards.

Anywho, congrats on the ECAC Selke nom, Casty!

He's such a 200 foot player.  He had to have been playing hurt last season.  Different guy.  What makes him so good here is what makes him arguably NHL ready.  Cross fingers that at least one of he and Walsh stay.

Yeah, we used to do that nearly every year.

Casty said on some podcast/interview that he had surgery on both his hips over the summer.

Well deserved! Very happy for him and yes, both hips last year-at once from what I understand

Could just be modesty, but just noting that I've heard several interviews with Castagna where he's been asked why he made a big jump this season as compared to last and he never mentioned the injury. Same for coach Jones when asked this question.

It's possible that could be because neither want to put potential injury / re-injury in the minds of the pro personnel making decisions affecting his future.

Yeah. VERY few hockey players will go "yeah I was working with no hips last year" as a response to "so why are you better now?" Makes it look like you're blaming the injury entirely. Which may be true, but it's a bad look either way.

I thought about this, but I figured there'd be no way Utah (or a potential trade partner of Utah inquiring about Castagna) didn't already know about it.

I'm sure you're right.

Even so, no reason to put something that could be viewed as a negative back in the forefront of anyone's mind.
