Well it's a lot harder to do than winning the Ivy League, which isn't even a real thing in hockey, and we have banners for those

Quote from: BearLover on February 15, 2026, 12:27:59 PMGiven where both the men's and women's teams have finished in the last decade-plus, house money means ECAC championship, not Ivy championship. A stretch but realistic goal is a frozen four. Nobody in the locker room is content with an Ivy title.

I like the banner though.

Lynah is now out of room for banners, btw. Does anyone know what the plan is for hanging more banners?

Reprint all new banners and make them
a little smaller. Auction all the existing banners off to fund NIL so we can compete with the Big Ten.

We redid the banners about 20 years ago.  The old banners were gorgeous; the new ones are cheap.  This would be a chance to fix that aesthetic crime.

I would like them as pennants, letting them hang a little lower while being less wide.  This allows more on an aisle.  I would also move the retired numbers to a place of honor all by itself against the wall.  (I mean, I wouldn't have retired them at all, but having committed to the derp we can at least try to class it up a bit.)

30, believe it or not. Right after Mike won his first ECAC tournament as head coach.

That is fair, but it's still an achievement to qualify for the tournament. Definitely not on the same level as champions of anything, but.

I agree take down "participation" banners and have only titles.  Ya gotta set the tone.

I'm trying to remember -- did they add more categories in the rafters when they took down the big banners on the wall at the scoreboard end of the rink? Or have they always had all the various categories in the rafters, too?
It seemed like a shit ton of womens banners suddenly appeared.  Is it possible the women used to have the long banner at the side of the rink with all their titles, and they were not in the rafters?

Oh, it's definitely possible that was it!

NCAA appearances and Ivy titles should be on one banner that gets updated; no individual NCAA banner for anything short of FF. NCAA title gets the reverse color scheme of an ECAC title.

Trotsky

I like that reverse color scheme denotes boy girl.

Strong disagree, the banners are one of the coolest parts of Lynah. There should also be a banner to commemorate that we finished the 2020 season in first place.

I'm mostly talking about it from space considerations. my general feeling is that it's fine the way it is as long as all good things have space to be commemorated.

Trotsky

I like the year banners, but the tall banners along the open end wall at Lynah back in the day were intimidating.
