Big game for so many reasons not least is that one of the few remaining games (Q, maybe Princeton) which can affirmatively help our npi. Most of the rest of the schedule can only hurt us.

But only hurt us if we lose. Now that we have 12 wins, our "bad wins" will be dropped. We need to take care of business and hope that the Big 10/NCHC/Hockey East teams on the bubble don't gain too much ground.

Or win the ECAC Championship. I'd be okay with that. I like having multiple paths where we control our own destiny.

I think if we take care of business, and only have maybe 1 or 2 losses we "aren't supposed to" (excluding Q here, but everyone else), we're in a good position to make the NCAAs off NPI. Have not simmed around though.

But also I would like to win the ECACs again. Just to put the cherry on top.

It feels like I said this team would have 7 or 8 losses on the season back in like, November...

Quote from: someone who is very good at predicting things but terrible at counting up to 29 apparently on November 30, 2025, 09:27:33 AMIf we're a 6-loss team at the end of the year (assuming we lose both Q games and Dartmouth rematch and win everything else) that will be wonderful and puts us in good position to get an at-large. Now, do I expect us to do that, no, probably win one or two of those and drop some easy points somewhere else because that's the way the game goes, but with our current schedule, on paper, that's doable. With 22 games, 15 wins on the season is definitely doable. Just take the easy points and RUN.
15 wins on a "22" game schedule (man I must have been sleep deprived) means 7 losses. We're currently 13-5.

...Would be really, really funny if we ended 22-7, though. Would be somehow right with the wrong answers.

The student sections looked pretty full but we had quite a few empties around us.  I'm guessing cold weather won't keep people away this evening

I've been to a few home games this year and last night was far and away the best atmosphere I've experienced in a while, maybe since I was a student 10+ years ago. Many more people were at the rink before puck drop and the majority of the crowd was actually into the game.

Seven of our last 10 games are on the road, so the odds of us getting through all of them without getting upset by a team like Union, Colgate, Brown, Princeton or even Yale is slim, especially considering how many freshmen we have suiting up. Yale, for example, beat Q in New Haven this season.

Agreed, it sounded great. I mean, it is This Weekend. More alumni back for Fish n Fowl, only the first week of classes, tickets were probably snapped up.

The good thing is that for first-timers and hockey novices, this is what gets 'em hooked.

The Dartmouth game has been like this for awhile now—it's easily the second best crowd of the year. That's because they package Dartmouth and Harvard tix together for students. And it's why, to bolster attendance, I've been advocating that they add a new package next year which is Harvard + Dartmouth + two other games of your choice. Buy that package, get first dibs on the Harvard game.

Given that the NPI bonus for away games is bigger than the actual disadvantage of playing an away game, it's a good thing most of the rest of our games are away.

By the way, if anyone is at the rink and shoots a good video of the fish being thrown, I would love to obtain it so I can forward it to a friend. Solid chance I forget, and my camera is kinda ass 😅
