Very nice saves on a combo by Cournoyer.  I love a tall goalie!

I didn't see what happened, but after a whistle all of the Czech fans (parents?) are bouncing in unison and chanting in section F...fun! Another penalty on the Czechs now.

Hiscock making friends.

Gorski with his first appearance so we have now had ice time for 6 new forwards, 4 new defensemen, and 1 new goalie.

This is the Czech and Slovak thing they do during the Worlds and the Olympics.  It is awesome.

Think of My People as Latvians with about half the alcohol, meaning still far, far too much alcohol.

It was very European-football-esque I enjoyed it.

SOG 25-11 now... seems like we've taken our foot off the gas a bit. Not sure if it's a "try not to run up the score" situation.

How are we looking, btw? (Not in Ithaca this weekend. Fun colonoscopy during fall break.)

The worst part is that prep drink.  That is truly vile, and I have had banana liqueur.

No idea how we look, we are playing a team that in the last 5 days:

flew across the ocean
played 2 games
drove to Ithaca

There is no way to judge.  7-1 under these conditions might even be disappointing.

We will know more next week.

Things I have learned so far:

Our freshman aren't embarrassing which is a dam good thing because they are half the team.  Our transfer Ds look quiet, confident, and conservative.  Cournoyer is really tall.

Not sure if there's a ton to be gleaned in a "scrimmage" like this, but Major sure is flying around the ice like a man possessed and making something happen nearly every shift.

PP units seem to still be in "flux" and are getting shuffled a bit each time.

Ashton is also quite large. They've had him on the blue line on the PP a few times now: wonder if he's got a big shot.

Bad giveaway in front of Cournoyer and it's 7-2 now. Much bouncing and rejoicing from the Czech fans!

Czech fans have been chanting/cheering nearly the entire third period so far...sounds way more impressive than the half-full student section.

Each team playing tactical defensive hockey down the stretch at a far more proficient level than we have any right to expect.

This game was fun and not harmful and on we go.

7-2 final. Cournoyer got the most ice time: Koepple was in the whole 1st period, Katz got 13 minutes of the 2nd, and Cournoyer got the rest.
