Al DeFlorio

Way back, when the NHL had six teams, the playoffs opened with two series:  #1 vs. #3 and #2 vs. #4.  As the season drew to a close, the #3 and #4 teams could jockey for fourth place and the more desirable first-round opponent, while making sure they didn't slip down to 5th place and miss the playoffs.  Very strange way of doing things.

Yeah, that setup made about as much sense as the NHL's current ridiculous playoff format

Nothing contraction won't cure.

Hey, Gary's a Cornell alum!

So is the guy who unleashed one of the first big computer viruses, and I don't have to like him.

Didn't we have an "embarrassing alumni" thread in JSID?

I met Bettman when I was, like, 5. He was nice. His wife and my mother were sort of friends.

Which means nothing, but it does make all the anti-Bettman vitriol a little funny to me. Not saying it isn't deserved.

Jessica Campbell, as of right now, is not going to be assistant coaching the Kraken next year.

Sounds like she has interest across the league, and that the Kraken would want to bring her back if none of that pans out - so positive all around.

The Twitter comments were a ride. 🤢

But speaking of Campbell, this was a good listen a few months ago:

I don't twat so I couldn't read them, but I am assuming unrelenting misogyny and idiocy from the usual suspects?

Sorry I am so late.  Are there any Cornell alumni still alive for the Cup?
