I met Bettman when I was, like, 5. He was nice. His wife and my mother were sort of friends.

Which means nothing, but it does make all the anti-Bettman vitriol a little funny to me. Not saying it isn't deserved.
I met him at Kettle of Fish in NYC, back when that was one of the few ways to see Cornell in the NCAAs.  He hung out inconspicuously, watching most of the game.

Not just any commentator either: it was Erik Johnson, former #1 overall pick and Sam's teammate (and fellow Minnesotan and d-man) on Colorado last season.

I heard that too. High praise indeed.
McNally even tweeted about it haha. I heard it and got stars in my eyes.

What the announcers didn't do was give Sam any of the credit for the goal at the beginning of the second period. His D helped cause the turnover.

"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

As per the Cornell twitter, Malinski had the highest +/- of any dman in the regular season in the NHL.

Which means it's an incredibly important stat for assessing player value. :)

He always says "I couldn't have done it if I hadn't stayed at Cornell for four years and anyone who leaves early is making a huge mistake AND hurting the program in a way you, as a fan, should resent."

And he's completely right about that

Game featured some red on red crimebaggery when Jill Saulnier had a partial breakaway in overtime only to be hauled down by her HOF classmate Brianne Jenner. Penalty was killed by Guilday on the PK.

The link from Stereax features an "agony of defeat" shot of Saulnier next to the 2OT goal scorer.

Malinski out of game 4 with an "upper body injury."

Montreal won last night and will host games one and two Thursday and Saturday.

PWHL draft list is also out and includes a couple familiar names: https://www.thepwhl.com/en/news/2026/may/12/2026-pwhl-draft-eligibility-list-features-record-number-of-player-declarations

League is expected to go from 8 to 12 teams next year. Detroit is official. Vegas and Hamilton strongly rumored to be announced shortly. Vegas probably today.

Just did a quick scan:
Avi Adam
Georgia Schiff
Mckenna Van Gelder
Alexa Davis (played at St. Lawrence last season)
Grace Dwyer
Laura Fortino (played in Italy the past couple seasons)
Ashley Messier (played at Minnesota-Duluth last season)
Alyssa Regalado

EDIT: Vegas and Hamilton both announced today. Fortino is from Hamilton, so she may be hoping she winds up there.
