Quote from: stereax on December 26, 2025, 04:20:41 PMAs per McNally, Walsh is on PK1 for USCS.
He's playing well
Good to hear. Can't watch the games in Poland, I believe...
It's on YouTube
Search Spengler cup and they provide a link
Isn't it only accessible in the US though?
I think it's available in every country where they didn't sell the broadcast rights.

Big upset win today against hosts HC Davos, sealed by a PPG on a major penalty that came in the closing minutes of the third. Now they wait to see how the last group game between Davos and Team Canada tomorrow turns out. If my reckoning is correct, a one- or two-goal regulation win for Davos would put the College Selects top of the group and give them a bye straight into the semifinals on Tuesday. If they finish first or second, they have to play in the quarterfinals on Monday.

Anyone know if Walsh will be playing in the Omaha series? Spengler ends New Year's Eve and the series starts the second. I wonder if they hold him out Friday night if he's gassed from the Spengler cup and jet lagged.

Link for tomorrow's semi vs Sparta Praha ("I believe when you're speaking English, you're allowed to refer to it as Prague."): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwR4wXKeqXw

It's the early game this time, at 9:10am EST.  If they win they get to play in the final on New Year's Eve, which is unfortunately at 6:10am EST.

They still won 5-3. Any idea why they swapped him out?

Walsh could really get a goal and an assist on that one, because he also set it up with a great drop pass to Knuble.

Watching the postgame ceremony on the YouTube feed.  I am now going to refer to him as "Ghee Gadovksy" from now on.

I saw a great article about the college team shocking people; they initially were expected to get wiped out quickly.
The USCS merch sold out!

They got a standing ovation at the postgame ceremony after the final.

What a great showing and great tournament to watch

Considering that the other teams were all professionals, and everyone else except Team Canada had played together as a team, it's super impressive that they not only finished second, but we're tied 3-3 late in the third period of the final.

I hope (after the disappointment of losing the final wears off) they come away with a good impression of the event to go with their silver medals, and spread the word to their respective teams how much fun European hockey can be.

Love to see it from our boy!

My first time seeing the uniforms... they are wild- and the ads are insane. I always forget Euro hockey does that. I hope it never comes here.

When I first moved to Switzerland, TV timeouts were unthinkable in European hockey, so I considered the passive advertising on the uniforms to be a good tradeoff.  Of course, now they also have two "powerbreaks" a period, plus the ads.

Some sports (cricket, rugby) even have sponsorship logos on the uniforms for national teams.

We shall never be free until the last advertising executive is hanged with the entrails of the last marketing executive.
