After securing a podium spot with 47 points last season, the Red's playoff run was cut short by a narrow loss to Princeton in Lake Placid. This year, the Red is determined to reclaim its place at the top of the ECAC and beyond.

Brad Gardiner elevates the Red's offensive control with his sophisticated puck-handling skills. Alongside 49 points across 133 games with the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts, Gardiner brought a level of leadership and commitment as an alternate captain during his 2025-26 season. In his OHL career, he played 300 games, in which he posted 77 goals, 98 assists and 175 points, leading to the Dallas Stars selecting the forward 79th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Pick a lane with games and points. Pretty sure the O doesn't play 133 games a season?

You also have to realize there are probably at least ten people on eLF who know more about the day to day operation of the team and the program than any current undergrad, for reasons which are well beyond any Sun reporter to control.

I agree we should be kind.  Jane was head and shoulders above any prior student reporter in my years of fandom, including a few who were highly honored.  She isn't the standard, she's a miracle we were fortunate to experience.  Her combination of precision and thoroughness in reporting facts and more importantly her utter disdain for the mawkish, tired overwrought emotional bullshit that typically infests sports reporting, is a one-off.  I have never seen it ever before -- even among the greatest sports reporters of all time.  She's simply a wonder.

Honestly I doubt that will survive in her professional career.  You cannot thrive in a commercial space without giving the boobs what they want.  There's just too many of them with too many dollars for your editor to ignore.  And I'm sure her successors at the Sun will return to that tawdriness as well, as it is always guaranteed to get applause.  It is the false hustle of journalism, and it plays, even at an institution where the inmates should know better.
