Doug Ferguson

Doug, Brock - not bad company!  But how would a 20-something know?

7 is not a forward's number it's a defenseman's number no amount of counterexamples will make me change my mind

Let's go pro:

Phil Esposito
Bill Barber
Ted Lindsay
Brady Tkachuk
Rod Gilbert
Rick Martin
Lanny McDonald
Joe Mullen
Red Berenson

I rest my case.
Bro snuck Brady Tkachuk in there 💀

Yep.  One for you young bucks.   8)
Hahahaha. Fair.

I still maintain it's a bad look to be under 8 as a forward. And 8 is only acceptable because Ovechkin. I don't particularly like 9 on forwards either ngl. At least it's not 2, like a bunch of the young buck forwards are wearing nowadays. I want to throttle them.

D-men:      2-6, 26-29
Fwds:       7-25
Goalies:    1, 30-35

Yup. As to 11 for defense, Mr. messier would like a word.  As to 7 for defense, see above. The numbers actually have, as in futbol, football, and baseball, historical and positional significance going back to the early days of the game(s).  Four for a center-Beleveau, Lecavalier-was shocking. Schaf's approach to uniform numbers was an acknowledgement of and respect for the history.

ugarte

arguing on the internet is in the grand tradition of the internet but actually caring about uniform numbers is sicko behavior

The Rancor

11 and 01 should be allowable goalie numbers, in the case of 1 being retired or used. This includes 31, 41, 51, etc. I will not be taking any questions at this time.

This is perhaps the worst take I have ever seen on eLynah. And I read most of BearLover's posts.

I only care when the numbers are objectively bad
