Worth it.

I jumped up and down so hard an ornament fell off the Christmas tree(*).  Which the kids pointed out to me after the high fiving was finished.

(*) yes, it's still up.  Helps keep the winter cheerful.

oh my god i can finally breathe and sit down and type.

i had to leave after the second period to go to a local show in my neighborhood that i help run. the plan was to pop out and pop back in because the show is just around the corner but yadda yadda yadda i ended up staying at the show. i even got distracted, but i refreshed eLF to catch up on the game thread and saw that we'd tied it, so i stood in the back, took my phone out, muted it and turned on the game. espn had logged me out, of course, so by the time i finally had the game on my screen, we were setting up for a faceoff to start a power play inside of two minutes. i don't need to recap the next 90 seconds for you but when Mack popped the puck in, i literally WAS NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE A SOUND out of respect for the person on stage. i'm still buzzing.

i can't believe how ecstatic i am after the most infuriating season in memory. i live for this.

Holy fuck that was a WONDERFUL shift. More of that, please.

It reminded me of The Shift vs UNH (when you were probably in elementary school ;-)), except we didn't score at the end of it.
(HAHA) what's the lore behind The Shift?

From memory, it was about 15 years ago, a non-conference game against UNH (I think on the road), before all the games were televised, but this one was, so the Cornell Club of Rochester was having a viewing party at The Distillery.  In the third period, 5x5, Cornell had a shift where they controlled the puck in the UNH zone for a full two minutes, changed all five players at least once if not more, completely tired out the defense, and then scored.  It was like watching a power play, except it was even strength.

Cornell won the game, of course.

That's a good summary of what transpired at UNH, a game I believe we won 5-2 with a team led by Scrivens, Nash, and Greening. Unfortunately, I think that's the same season (2010) when we lost badly to UNH as a higher seed in Albany in the 1st round of the NCAAs, which might have been the worst 1st round game of the Schafer era.

I remember wanting to go to that UNH game up in Durham that year but didnt, maybe because of a big snowstorm?

I dont recall losing to them in the NCAAs later that season.

I do recall losing to them in Buffalo, since I was there, my sophomore year...
