A great effort and a wonderful ride. Thank you, ladies.
Insanely fun season. Can't wait for next year.

We're losing a Messier and gaining a McDavid

God, I almost forgot I'm gonna get to watch a McDavid next year.

First time I've been to a women's or men's Frozen Four, and I'm so glad I made it. I could only make it for tonight, so I would have been very torn if Cornell had won today. But, Ivy champs, ECAC RS champs, ECAC tournament champs, NCAA Frozen Four. What a season.

Watching a bit of the Wisconsin-Minnesota semi, it is pretty unbelievable seeing how overloaded the Badgers are with top talent (all 3 Patty Kaz finalists!). It sounds like sour grapes, which I don't intend... the only wine that hasn't aged well was the 2019-20 Big Red season; we never got to see what they were capable of.

Between the second and third periods, ESPN ran a short piece -- narrated by Jeremy Schaap -- about the heartbreaking way Cornell's season ended that year. It featured comments from one of the players on that team, who noted that the seniors were convinced that was their year. I had forgotten that Cornell was the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, and we had gone undefeated (19-0-3) in the ECAC regular season.

Not starting a new thread for a team that isn't Cornell but ... wild start to the final. Ohio State scores a shorty on a coast to coast carry that she closed with a great deke. Wisconsin tied it up with a PPG seconds later.

And now OSU up 3-1 early in the 2nd.  IMO, it shows that our women could have kept up with Wisconsin.

Cornell is definitely in the mix of teams that had a legitimate chance to win the title this year. Stylistically, the Big Red women in some ways resemble the Schafer formula. We thrive on good goaltending and controlling the tempo, which is tough to do coming from behind. The knock against us is that the great teams don't let us have the moments to mentally collect ourselves. It's in part a philosophical question: go for control or thrive in chaos? Coach Derraugh certainly has his own biases.

High drama with 18 seconds left: Wisconsin on the power play challenges that an OSU player covered the puck with her hand in the crease, and they're awarded a penalty shot which they scored on to tie the game.

imafrshmn

Unbelievable turn of events for Wisconsin to be awarded a penalty shot on a coach's challenge (that could have gone either way) with 19 seconds left, and then burying it to tie 3-3.

Wow.

Going to OT now, with Wisconsin getting a few seconds of power-play to start.

The refs actually gave Wisconsin a choice of a penalty shot or an extra minor penalty on OSU, and they made the easy choice.
