These changes being discussed aren't actually being made...at least, not yet they aren't.  Sorry for the confusion.

Is next year here yet?

I was just basing what I said in discussions with the building crews assigned to do the actual work.  From what I was told the, the new Big Guy said go, the moneys been allocated and the designs been completed..
the work would begin in the spring and be incorporated into the new building going in between N lot and Lynah..

Also just to add, my post has nothing to do with the post below of what people wanted done, but from information on what has already been planned and committed to.

The only box seating I ever want to see in Lynah is the kind that Hornby does...

Ha, bullshit 'John Smith'. Links to a profile with not contact information other than a hotmail address. There happen to be no current 'John Smith's at Cornell - only retiried and alumni - according to the directory.

Nice try, 'John'.

There are plans for a "lynah expansion".  I've seen the plans.  But don't expect any great increase in seating.  The only thing that will change will be the west end (scoreboard end).  New coaches offices, rink managers office, expanded locker rooms and training facilities.  The changes are more for the hockey program itself than they are for increased seating.

I was under the impression from what I've heard that there will be seats added to the scoreboard side of the rink just as there are on the opposing end.

I have not heard anything to the contrary of the statement that expansion of Lynah would bring the entire structure under the scope of (and thus into immediate violation of) modern fire codes.

AFAIK, not only are there no real plans to expand Lynah, but such plans are literally impossible.

It's not impossible that they could add to the building... taking out some of the lot, to add locker room and facilities space, etc. If they were really only adding on, it might be possible to not have to change the building, since they aren't really modifying the existing structure (other than perhaps some new doorways). I hardly know fire codes, but it would make sense.

I still kinda doubt this, but since it's known that Schafer wants new locker rooms, and Schafer generally gets what he wants, it's certainly possible. We'll see.

And whatever Schafer gets, he richly deserves!

Thank you, Schafer!

Fred, Greg, et.al., there are really plans to build at Lynah, drawn up since last spring, and as far as I know they will be acted on. They include new seating at the scoreboard end of the rink; new seating at what is now the concourse running around the rink, with a new concourse built beyond what are now the outside walls; new construction behind the scoreboard end consisting of hockey offices for men and women, training room, locker rooms, function room.....Although I am anon here, I am a real person, a real CU grad, and these plans are really true. I think the seating will increase about 500-700. The plans have not seemed to trigger a necessity for 'upgrading' the rest of Lynah to any building/fire codes, altho I don't know if building permits are actually acquired--presumably the architect knows what's what.
