What happens if you call up after the Princeton game (on 11/14 - still plenty early).  Are they really going to make you buy a ticket for a game that occurred in the PAST in order to get a Cornell ticket?

@#$%@  23$%@# $% @#$%@#@% !!!!!!!

The gentleman at the box office made it clear that you have to buy "The Package" before the Princeton game - otherwise you are out of luck. The Package will not be sold after 11/13

Did the box office gentleman say anything about standing-room tickets?

Adam

Or did he say anything about the fact that the building is unlocked before, say, 5pm and you can just walk in?

I don't see it that way.  It seems to me that Harvard assumes that Cornell fans will flood the rink anyway and are simply attempting to sell tickets to a few games that are likely to very sparsely attended anyway.  They don't care if Cornellians show up to the other games because the seats would've been empty anyway.  They're definitely trying to take advantage of Cornell fans here.

Here's a thought.  If people do end up buying the package, then how about they try to distribute the otehr tickets to Cornell alums in the area.  Then we get a whole bunch of pissed off Cornellians to show up at the games to root against Harvard.  If we could get a loud bunch of anti-fans (prominently wearing Red, of course) to show up to one of the games they might think twice about doing this again next year.

[Naturally this is easy for me to suggest when I am 2500 miles from Cambridge].

Well, Jim, in fact I'm a Cornell Club of Cape Cod member.;-)   But the Boston Club has in the past treated us as fellow members as far as Harvard tickets go.

My recollection is that last year the Club's ticket allocation was reduced and, given this year's "package" nonsense (sounds like something Noel and Co. would do), it wouldn't surprise me if this year will be worse.  In any case, last year it was first-come, first-served for tickets, IIRC.

Tom Pasniewski can, I'm sure, clarify all this for us when he figures out what's going on this year.

Having run this event for CCOB in the past (1996-1998) I can assure you that club membership does not guarantee a ticket.  The highest number of tickets I was ever able to get out of Harvard was 200 and club membership was about 800 in those years.  The tickets usually sold out within three weeks of the first CCOB newsletter to have an order form being mailed.  We usually limited purchases to 4 tickets per member.  The one time I lifted the limit someone bought 18 so I considered that a failed experiment.  Also, Harvard never mentioned our purchases having anything to do with a "Cornell allotment".

Seriously, this is just an attempt to gouge Cornell fans and possibly keep some from making the trip.  I think a letter campaign is in order.  Or the porn email route is good too.

Note that this game is also on CSTV's college hockey broadcast schedule, so Hahvahd might also be looking to avoid having Lynah East seen on national TV.

You will not have to join CCOB for $32 to get tickets.  Although we'd love to have your money for scholarship.  Please see the thread I started for information on CCOB and Cornell-Harvard tickets.

Wow, I even get an introduction to my return from my summer focus on baseball.  Thanks Al.  We're talking but Harvard isn't but I'll post what I know.  We were told Oct. 1 but obviously there's no run on Harvard tickets now.

Heh...I'd say this is a worthy reason, but I'm not sure who precisely to target.  The Hahvahd AD?  The ticket manager?

Is next year here yet?

If anyone does buy this package, be sure to root for RPI on 2/13. :-D

That's exactly what I plan on doing, Keith.  Screw them - if they don't want me, as a Cornell fan, to show up at a game at Bright... then I'll show up at four, all decked out in Red, and possibly with fish (for the RPI game, at least, so my Cornell tickets don't get yanked).  Go UMass, RPI, and Dartmouth!

Robin

what if we know a Harvard alum?  Do they need to buy the package too?  (sorry if that was already addressed)

How about starting at the top with their President, lawrence_summers@harvard.edu ?  Keep going until you get to Dov Grumet-Morris.
