Fwiw, college recruiting site 247Sports awarded 6 Cornell 2025 commits two or three stars.  From 2020-4, only 1-3 Cornell commits were awarded stars.  Does seem our recruiting has meaningfully improved.

It certainly appears so.  As Coach Swanstrom has stated in many of his interviews, the players have to improve their overall strength and conditioning.  I'm hopeful they will having a dedicated strength and conditioning coach for football.

I hope he remains committed, a nice story on incoming QB Ryan Downes.

Comeback Player of the Year: Ryan Downes, QB, Sarasota Booker, Sr.

Quote from: Coming off a horrific leg injury from the 2023 season, Downes goal was to play the first preseason game against Cardinal Mooney to begin 2024. Not only did the Cornell signee do that, Downes was able to lead the Tornadoes back to the state semifinals behind a superb season throwing the rock. Downes ended the season completing 105-of-146 passes (71 percent) for 2,302 yards and 26 touchdowns. For someone who wasn't sure about a year ago if he would ever play football again, we think this is a pretty easy pick.

Downes has had quite a journey. I'm presently reading "Guilty Admissions", a book about the "Varsity Blues" scandal. In discussing ringleader Rick Singer's ties to IMG Academy, the author mentions that Downes (who previously attended IMG) was seen as a QB prodigy and received his first D1 offer at the age of 13.

Last highly-regarded, highly-recruited QB commit was Harley Kirsch, who developed rhabdomyolysis and never took a varsity snap.  Let's hope for better luck this time.

Cornell got a commitment from a Wake Forest freshman in the transfer portal - Sam Greenspan DT - 6'2" 270 Washington, DC, Offers; Brown and Harvard.

Cornell can use a lot of help on the DL.

Don't know the reason, but happy for the result. Coach Swanstrom is really recruiting from Florida very well.

Hell yeah. So Cornell football might actually be watchable soon? (Maybe I'm a little biased because I was only there for the homecoming rain game but it was... different, than any football I'm used to watching.)

Also, how do we know he switched? Source please? Poking at his twitter and the most recent posts are all tagging Big Green. His bio does say Big Red though.

Also also, what is Signing Day, anyway? Cause here I'm seeing a couple of new(?) guys - Max Tomaszewski, Dalten Phelan, Duke Rich, Jacob Carter, Josiah Allen, Bo Draheim so far.

You can check the Twitter player tweets that Cornell is putting out today on incoming recruits against the names on the list at the top of thread. There was a tweet he deleted about his decision to switch, but he updated his bio as a Big Red commit. Hopefully some other FBS school doesn't swoop in and grab him before he enrolls at Cornell.

Any recollection why he decided to switch?

Not at this time, but very happy he choose Cornell!.  One of the highest rated recruits with multiple FBS offers in recent memory.

Some big time football schools on that list. Pretty amazing. Our good WR from this year is returning right? Could be quite a 1-2 punch if we can find a replacement QB to throw the ball to them.

Samuel Musungu who was second team All-Ivy as a sophomore is returning as far as I know.  Cornell's top four receivers from last season should all return.  Settling on a QB replacement for Wang will be Cornell's biggest challenge.  There are some really good running backs recruits that I hope can develop into starters quickly to balance the offense and take the pressure off whatever QB is settled on as the starter.
