The key to this season is will the D get better.  We can score given chances but the D has to limit the easy goals we have been giving up

We let Yale get up top two or three times. That's going to happen sometimes in lacrosse, but those are easy goals for a D1 shooter. We were beat on the right wing against a shorty on one possession and no one picked up the ballcarrier, and he went right to the net. We have to make him pass the ball at least. Another time, an attack ran right by Singer from X. He has to use that long pole to slow him or get some help.

That's five goals right there. I don't mean to sound like some super critical person. We can't stop them all. But those kinds of plays are often the difference between winning and losing.

It's a relief to get through Yale and Princeton.  Penn seems to be the last of the upper echelon Ivy teams.  But the sloppiness on D can really bite you against even lesser teams

It's a beautiful day here to be watching a game. Penn players on the field now doing warmups

This short stick defense is killing me. They are just running past them to the topside and shooting.

mike1960

It feels like we're constantly looking for the perfect shot. That's a big 6x6 goal. Make the goalie work.

mike1960

It feels like we are really predictable on offense.

mike1960

We've been cranking up the defense the last two or three possessions, playing tight and sliding hard. We need to do that from the first faceoff.

Iceberg

Yeah, the offense looks inept compared to earlier in the game. Also, a bunch of unforced turnovers giving Penn more possession

mike1960

Didn't even get a shot off in the last seconds.

I couldn't see who that one Cornell player by himself was but I don't know how he missed the net from point blank

I think that was Long that shot high.

I think Cornell wins against Penn in 7 out of 10 tries but that was as bad a loss as any
