In the first game today, David LeNeveu made 37 saves and shut out the Sharks.  According to the Sharks' media relations coordinator, David stood on his head.  The Coyotes won 1-0.

I have not seen a report of the Kings-Mighty Ducks game.

Well looks like the goose egg king continues to put up numbers nothing less than amazing at the professional level as well.  This is definetley the start of greater things to come.  Keep it up Dave

I see that the Sharks played 3 goalies during the game.  Do the Coyotes have that many rookie goalies as well?  So in other words, is Dave likely to see as much playing time tomorrow against the Might Ducks?

Looks like Matt Underhill played well against Anaheim, as well. I think he played the entire game, and gave up one goal, the final was 3-1 in favor of the Kings.

there's a picture of matt, as well as one of lenny in the article, plus a pile of great underhill pics in the photos section (linked at the top of the article):

No, the other goalie plays today.

Murray is on the Sharks' rookie tournament and training camp rosters, but I cannot confirm if he dressed for yesterday's game.

Murray dressed, he played..and the people who saw him from the sharks hockeysfuture board said that he played well, had great positioning, but when he was caught out of position he wasn't fast enough to recover. They also were impressed by how well he used his size.

well day 2 scores were ...

3-2 phoenix over anaheim
5-0 LA over SJ

interesting to note was the following:

"After Los Angeles' second goal, play started to get more physical. Left wing Glenn Olson, in an effort to get his squad pumped up, dropped the gloves with Kings heavyweight Chris Barr. Later in the game, defenseman Doug Murray threw down against another Los Angeles adversary."

some things just don't change!

Sunday evening, the Kings play the Coyotes..if both teams start the goaltenders who have played the best for them during the earlier part of the tourney, it could be a goaltender's duel between Underhill and LeNeveu. That could be fun, I wonder if tickets are still available  :-)

from the Phoenix release:

LENEVEU RESTED – Coyotes rookie goaltender David LeNeveu, who suffered a knee sprain during Saturday's practice, was rested on Sunday as a precaution so he will be ready when veteran's camp opens on Friday, September 12.

kings beat phoenix 3-1. lenny didn't  play (as the above states) and no mention of undy in the article ..... but possible he didn't play as well as both teams supposedly rested their key players for the championship game between these 2 teams.

Will

Well, it sucks that Lenny sprained his knee, but I'd rather he'd get healthy now and wait for a more important game to come along so that he can impress people then.  And let's hope Undy gets to impress people too.

Is next year here yet?

pfibiger

Underhill did play in the Kings win over Phoenix, and got the win. It's unclear whether Underhill will start the championship game, or the goalie who's under contract w/ the kings will.
