Clarkson lost to Mercyhurst at Cheel and has opened 0-4.  I did not see that coming.

The USA Under 18 team put on a clinic in Troy.  If they had had a little better defense the score might have been 7-1 rather than 7-4. It was really great to see this level of talent. Nelson, who is headed to Notre Dame, is already a giant who is amazing with his speed and stick handling. 5 are apparently planning to play for B.C.

I thought RPI had won all of its NCAA games while losing to Colgate in a scrimmage and also losing to Toronto. But checking with CHN I just realized they lost to Canisius in an away game this Tuesday.

The legacy of Shirley Jackson lives on.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

This was a Brown football post.  It was not in the right place.  I feel shame.

It will be years before RPI can purge the legacy of Shirley out of its system. Thankfully, the new president is an RPI alum who supported the team as an undergrad and has so far this season. Also, his kids played hockey.

On  a related note, RPI has been playing the easiest non-conference schedule I have seen. I wonder how it prepared the team for the season. We will learn something next weekend vs. #26 Union. Union isn't any good either, but they are better prepared than RPI.

Ben Tupker had Union's only goal vs RPI tonight. I think he was on their first line.

With Perets coming back to Earth last weekend, it's a race for the ECAC GOTY.

GAA and Sv% in league games:

1.52 .925 Perets, Qpc
1.53 .942 Pearson, Yal
1.62 .919 Shane, Cor
1.97 .909 Gibson, Hvd
2.18 .926 Gylander, Cgt

For now.

Looks like Pearson has been the regular starter at Yale since December.   Ecac stats above are only for 6 games, but overall, in 10 games he's .941 sv% 1.69gaa.

Small sample, but if he keeps that up, I'd vote him runaway winner.

upprdeck

Pearson has got great stats the last few games but he also has played teams that its hard to judge stats.

vs harv 3
vs prov 3
vs dart 4

cs arny/merri/rpu/union/VT 6 total

so no Quin or cornell yet

"It's a long season and you gotta trust."

I was just heartened that Perets is not going to throw up another 0.95 .955 year.

Fun fact, in overall games Shane is current #2 in the nation in GAA:

1.69 Pearson, Yal
1.73 Shane, Cor
1.74 Basse, StC
1.80 Perets, Qpc
1.85 Castor, StC

Iceberg

Shane has definitely improved from last year. I can't think if any particularly bad performances from him, even in some of the past games where opponents have scored more goals

IIRC he was bad in Potsdam, that's it.

Wouldn't shock me to see Keopple get a few games down the stretch. Maybe we'll see him start tonight and then play a couple of the rpi/union and brown/Yale games to give Shane a rest before playoffs

Trotsky

Mike really likes to go with his best guy.  I would doubt we will see that unless Shane starts feeling tired.

Thanks to the Pairwise, it's really hard to justify not putting out your best lineup every night.
