Women hoopsters get a nice win over Binghamton to give Dayna Smith her 200th all time win.  Need to get more consistent on hitting the 3 pointers though

Just noticed on the schedule that there is a home game against Washington State on the afternoon of Dec. 19, and WSU is playing at BYU the afternoon of the 18th. That's a pretty rough turnaround for WSU (assuming that they are flying commercial). Also, WSU appears to be coming East just for that game. I'd be interested in the backstory.

Someone (a senior?) on the team from Central NY?

Doesn't look like it.  Most of the players aren't even from the US.  And none of the coaches come from east of the Mississippi either.

I was bored so I tried to book a flight from Salt Lake City to Ithaca or Syracuse on the 18th, and assuming the absolute earliest they could leave would be 4 pm Mountain time, it's not possible to get to Ithaca in time for a Sunday afternoon game flying commercial. So they must be taking a chartered flight.

Another team that needs a coaching change

dbilmes

The women's basketball team was losing at Columbia, 26-2, to start the game, although they did regroup to cut the lead to two points before eventually losing by 11. Their coach, Dayna Smith, has been there 19 seasons, the second longest tenure of any Ivy women's coach. The team has finished in the top four in the Ivies four times and won one league title under Smith, which is one more than they have won under any other coach. If you're comparing Smith to someone like Archer, she's been a huge success. She's also raised the program from where it was when she took over. At this point, there's no way Andy would fire her.

Since Meduka was on the team they have been mediocre and trending worse. No longer competitive with the top teams in the league, which points to subpar recruiting.

Whom would Andy fire based solely on their effectiveness as a coach? (He fired Ben DeLuca because his team misbehaved, not because of W-L)

Cornell has also been averse to firing coaches with time left on their contracts.  They got drilled at Harvard today 89-47.  Princeton Women's basketball program is bringing in two (2) top 100 players next year. Cornell is not recruiting on that level
