Man is it quiet around here! Since we have to talk about SOMETHING :)....

What does everyone think was THE MOST memorable moment (i.e. a specific occurrence) during any game this season (from either watching in person or on TV)?

There are so many, but from the games that I actually attended (Harvard, Brown, BU, and BU at home, Dartmouth, Brown, and Harvard on the road, ECAC's, NCAA regionals, Frozen Four), I'd have to go with the Matt McRae goal, just for the sheer importance and the insanity that ensued.  You seriously couldn't wipe that smile off my face for days :-D

Obviously, the Mark McRae and Paolini goals in the ECAC final were up there, but my favorite part about Albany was the post game celebration at Jillians, complete with the rebroadcast of the game that gave us an exuse to cheer and chant for another three hours and probably cost me my voice for an extra day  ::nut:: .  Drinking out of the Whitelaw was especially sweet ::rock::

If I have to single out one, I'd say the Matt McRae winner, but the whole season was just incredible, and it's tough to pull out any specific moment.

I'm going to go with something that probably won't be mentioned by others. At the Cornell @ Harvard game in February, I was sitting almost directly behind the goal at the end of the rink where we scored our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd goals, and where Harvard scored its 1st and 2nd goals. In the second period, with LeNeveu in goal, and on a delayed penalty, Lenny reacted to an East-West pass beautifully, making a soccer-style diving save to absolutely ROB the Harvard player whose shot was headed towards the top corner. The quickness with which LeNeveu moved over was impressive, but even more so was his catch of the puck as he was almost perfectly horizontal (a la Orr...almost) in the air above his crease. It was absolutely the most spectacular save I have ever seen (in person), and I like to think of it as representative of his dazzling season.

If I'm allowed to pick an event I experienced on TV rather than in person, it would have to be Mark McRae's goal to tie up the ECAC Championship game.  TShen and I let out such a shout when that happened. :-D

The most fun I had in person was probably my only trip to Lynah, watching us absolutely dominate BU.  We had gone into the season figuring that "winning"  that series (three or four points) would be a good measure of early success.  Cornell's showing that weekend was the first indication this season would be something special.  Still sorry a third game against the Terriers, in the NCAAs, didn't materialize.

Running into Dougie and Sammy in the Kalamazoo airport was also cool.  Dweeb that I am, I started a conversation about the previous night's hockey game before I noticed whom I was talking to.

Big Ben \'03

Avash - I have to agree with you there. I had a crystal clear view of that save from the side. IIRC, he had a harvard player practically SITTING on him at the time. That save had me out of my seat and screaming. It was unbelieveable. The harvard player almost raised his hands in celebration; he was so sure it went in. I wish somebody had that on tape.

I remember that save, too - I was sitting right behind the net.  Probably the one game that I saw this year that Lenny literally stole for us.  I remember another similar pad save that was just sick.  Damn, I hope he stays...

I was right next to Big Ben '03 for the game at Harvard, so I saw the save too, and it goes in my top five plays of the season.  Still, I think I'm going to put the Sam Paolini GWG in Albany as my personal top moment of the season.  I mean...damn, that was exciting.

Is next year here yet?

I'll go out on a small limb and say Mark McRae's *tying* goal.  I mean, come on.  We NEVER win games like that.  Sure, the comeback against Brown in 1997 was amazing, but (1) there was less on the line, and (2) we hadn't had our hearts (nearly) trampled on after leading most of the game.  When Kolarik scored, I just fell back in my seat, turned to my friend, and said, "We lost."  When Mark scored, it was the most joyous goal celebration for me ever (perhaps even a touch better than Matt's goal in Providence because of the Harvard factor).

And after that moment (and Providence), I'll never have to even THINK about which one was #17 and which  one was #29, or which one played F and which one D. :-)

A very small limb.  That goal was a no-brainer for me.  The emotional swing from desperation - to - elation was just much greater than the tension release (thrilling though it was) of the 2OT Matt McRae goal against BC or the Paolini OT goal against Harvard.

Make it three votes.  An unbelievable moment.

The "big three" goals in order (for me):

1. Mark's

2. Sammy's

3.  Matt's

Other in-person moments:  Murray's hit on the OSU player in Florida.  Coming from behind vs. Union on Senior Night.  And probably countless others than I can't think of now....

For me, the single best moment this season was just being back in Lynah after a 20 year absence for the Clarkson game in January.  Thank you, John Whelan for selling me your tix, and thank you Age, for maintaining eLynah so I was able to contact John and get his tix.

After that...The tying goal against Harvard in Albany.  You knew, once we tied it, we were going to win it, so the tying goal was more emotional.

Boy.  I sure wish I had!  Would have made things a whole lot less stressful :-)

Ya gotta believe!

Well...I had faith in Becky and Jayson's prediction...once Mark tied the game.:-P
