Good start with Cornell getting the better of position early.  Both teams are really talented and have strong playmaking and skating skills.  The worst player on the ice is better than the best player from 10 years ago.

Clarkson's Gaudet takes a penalty.  They're like a crime family.

Weder

The worst player on the ice is not better than Rebecca Johnston or any number of players from then.

Both teams are well balanced front to back. Clarkson has the more talented scorers and playmakers, the championship mettle, the better goaltender, and they should have the fresher legs as this wears on (thanks to Cornell going to double OT yesterday). Cornell has the hunger to prove themselves and the home crowd behind them. Clarkson are decidedly the favorites in this matchup. Cornell needs the first goal more than Clarkson does. First period was closely contested, but let's see how this unfolds.

Lol, yeah, Rebecca Johnston circa 2009 would be the best player on the ice in today's game, no question. I'll grant you that the general skill levels have risen noticeably since then.

Down 2-0 not even halfway through the 2nd period and it doesn't look good. Red legs look dead tired, decision making and execution are not sharp. Power play was unable to generate anything. This could really get away from us quickly if we're not careful.

Signs of life in late 2nd period with some good offensive zone possession now but Clarkson is collapsing in, blocking a lot of shots.

Constant Red pressure beginning the third to get a goal, now 2-1.

All 3 Clarkson goals coming off of odd man rushes.

Really tough way to go down in the ECAC. Showed a lot of fight this weekend! We could still have a decent draw in the NCAA tournament.

Projected bracket now, without the final results in from the other 2 major conferences:

8. Syracuse at 1. Wisconsin
5. B.C. At 4. Clarkson

7. Princeton at 2. Minnesota
6. Cornell at 3. Northeastern

The NCAA tournament bracket has just been announced, and it will be exactly as anticipated. On to Northeastern for the quarterfinals!

I'm sure Northeastern in a terrific team, but I'm glad the ladies get a chance to play a non-ECAC team.
