The ECAC title game in LP will be on TWC (SNY) here in the southern tier of NY this evening....  That's refreshing.

A lot of empty seats in Lake Placid. This was probably one of the worse matchups the ECAC could have gotten as far as attendance goes.

Does anyone else think the Harvard 5-minute major, late in the first, was a bit of a stretch??

Watching the replay, it's clear that the Q player went hard into the boards.  But the H player pulled up & wasn't making a whole lot of contact with him.   I came away with the opinion that H player didn't exactly drive him into the boards.   2 mins, yes...   5?  No!

I'd have thought Q would travel well.

Worst possible teams: Brown, Harvard, Princeton, Yale.  SLU is tiny but close.  Colgate and Dartmouth seem to be decent.

Q wins their first ECAC championship, 4-1.

I hope Anas is okay and able to play in the tournament for Q. I'm glad H lost.

Absolutely a major at any level,of hockey.

Looks like he's favoring his right shoulder.

I'm rooting for Q to win it all, followed by a mass defection to the pros by half the roster.

Iceberg

We'll find out for sure tomorrow but I bet Q probably gets put in Albany while Harvard gets sent out west again. And of course Yale still isn't a lock considering that they're knocked out if Duluth and Minnesota win I believe.

Hate QU.
I can't stand that their name will appear on the ECAC Championship trophy.
While I will root for CU against Harvard any day... I just can never root for QU.
If you have ever been to their arena, the presentation is obnoxious. Their fans are beyond obnoxious.
The rink announcer alone is enough reason to hate them.
And Rand Pecnold... don't get me started... It is always a "cheap hit" if the opposing team does it.
I will always be in favor of the Ivy League team against other ECAC teams, especially QU.
Food for thought...
Number of QU players that will turn 25 in 2016 - Four.
Number of Harvard players that will turn 25 in 2016 - Harvard - 0
Number of players on an athletic scholaship.... Harvard none.
QU = the number players on the roster.
Can't make the pros... get a full ride at QU... heck you're turning 25... take a full ride at QU.

Love QU ... for being the best chance to give the ECAC 3 NCAA titles in 4 years. And for an Eastern term to win 8 of the last 9 NCAA titles. After Harvard won in 1989, Western teams won something like 14 of 18 titles and there was a lot of talk about how Eastern hockey was terrible. Then BU / BC won several titles and the talk settled to how the ECAC was the weakest major conference.

More people will fill the empty seats in Lake Placid knowing the winner and runner-up are serious contenders.

ECAC is finishing a three-year run in Placid this year, announced a three-year extension. There was some on-air mention that the agreement included upgrades to the glass and video scoreboard. From the announcers' griping, sounds as if LP needs to attend to the icemaking equipment, too. It was in the teens outside at gametime and there wasn't a lot of body heat to overcome. A lot of youth teams come through to play holiday, school year weekend, and summer tournaments. They ought to go home with a better impression of Lake Placid.

When Q played Yale in the final a few years ago there was a profile of
the school that convinced me I will never root for them in anything.
I don't have it handy, but to paraphrase, the administration was taken
over by people who thought it would be a great idea to apply business
marketing strategies to a university.  So basically every decision
they've made is to most efficiently promote the brand, including
sponsoring polls to get their name in the press, and even pouring
support into the hockey team as the most cost-effective way to give
them a high-profile sporting success.  I wish Q were not part of our
conference, and I hope to hell RIT pulls off another 16-vs-1 upset
next weekend.

FWIW, one of the few things in the above rant that I disagree with is
always supporting Ivies over non-Ivies.  I'll support Clarkson and RPI
over most of the Ivies (except obviously Cornell and perhaps
Princeton).  I'll support most of the ECAC over Harvard and Dartmouth
(because of Gaudet; used to be Brown).  I will support almost anyone
in College Hockey over Quinnipiac, with the possible exception of
North Dakota, maybe BC, and a few of the B1G T6n.

That's about my ranking of teams, except with less Q hate.  Was rooting for Q over Harvard, though I feel gross about it.

And I'd root for just about anyone or anything over Dartmouth.

As someone who lives less than 25 miles from Hamden, and over the past five years (thanks to 2 playoff series) have watched more games at Q than at any other rink, I agree completely with everything you said. You also omitted the terrible post-game traffic jams, which often result of taking 20 minutes or longer just to get down the long driveway leading up to the rink.
