Quote from: Josh '99I thought Riley Nash looked pretty good for the Hurricanes against the Rangers last night.  He seemed to be getting a lot of minutes late in the tied third period and into overtime, and won 71% of his faceoffs (though just about everyone on Carolina was dominating the Rangers on faceoffs).

It is weird rooting for Dominic Moore, Lee Stempniak, Tanner Glass and Marty St. Louis, and against Riley Nash.

Man, it was depressing knowing that Moulson would move at last year's deadline and that my Penguins needed a winger.  And they go get Lee Goddamned Stempniak.

As much as it pains me to say it, I liked Glass's effort on the 4th line.

It's not Scrivens.  Or.  Maybe it's Scrivens, but it's also the Oilers.

This is not how you play defense:

Nor is this:
It's the system, or lack thereof...

Despite Ryan Miller throwing a shutout, Ben got #1 star in Edmonton's loss to Canucks Friday night

Although Carolina is still winless, Riley Nash was 2nd on the team in ice-time in last night's 3-1 loss to Winnipeg: 22:21, eclipsing most of the team's defensemen.

That phrasing is making me think of Hannibal Lecter.

Or this guy.

Sorry, Buffalo:

Quote from: "So Cornell is in the Christmas Tournament every year down in Florida and they have a youth tournament every year," Ferlin said, referring to the Florida Hockey Classic that Cornell hosts annually in Estero, Fla. "I would play in that [youth] tournament, when I was 13, 14. I had a Cornell hat and I always kind of liked the team. ... I don't know, I just knew from that tournament I always liked them."

Of course, if every kid who liked Cornell played for the school, the Big Red would be worse than their western New York neighbors, the Buffalo Sabres. Cornell coach Mike Schafer recalls seeing Ferlin play at a select festival in Rochester, an event which Ferlin played "very, very well" in. It's tournaments like those, ones that pit Florida's best against the top talent across the country, where Schafer could truly determine if Ferlin was a talent worth recruiting.

Most Sabres fans would appreciate the writer for being kind.

This includes his blanking of Washington in the third period handing them their first loss of the season.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Scrivens's hot-streak continued with a 3-0 blanking of Montreal last night.
