Cornell Women are #2 in the ECAC women's coaches' poll. Jenner & Saulnier make the preseason all-conference team.

Canadien Women's Fall Festival schedule and roster. Games are tomorrow through Sunday.

From Cornell we have Head Coach Derraugh and alum Rebecca Johnston joins six current team memebers: Cassandra Poudrier, Hanna Bunton, Emily Fulton, Jillian Saulnier, Taylor Woods, and Brianne Jenner. Jenner is on the roster, but not attending the games.

Not to mention "team leader" Amanda Mazzotta.

Interesting, I took the listing right from the ECAC site and obviously they were not very accurate in their reporting. I e-mailed them  about the error.

I believe that this qualifies as a quorum and the Alma Mater must be sung between the 2nd and 3rd period.

It's now been decided that Brianne Jenner will serve as team captain! No surprise, of course, as she has always been a good role model. No word yet whether anyone will wear an A. BC will be a huge test for this team right out of the gate. I think it's a great motivator for the precious few practice days before the season begins, and this team will need to play with defensive discipline. Biggest question marks will be which goalies get ice time and whether their small defensive unit can provide enough control in the back end. Can't wait for that puck to drop!

Cool.  Thx!

BC leads 3-2 at end of 2nd, scoring on a gorgeous play with 8 seconds left in the 2nd period.  All goals were scored in the 2nd. Both teams have 1 PP goal.  BC scored first, then Jenner on the PP, followed by Fulton off a great assist from Saulnier on a 2-on-1.  BC answered about a minute later, then scored the late goal.

BC is awfully impressive.  Highly-skilled, quick to the puck, with a great forecheck. They clearly had the better of the play, and I thought we'd be fortunate to get out of the period with a tie.  We're going to have to raise the level of our game to pull this one out.

Intense game through 2 periods. Cornell has looked fairly solid, but BC has been the quicker team to the puck.

And BC pots 3 goals in fairly rapid fashion to take the game 6-2. Their speed, skill, and depth make them a tough opponent, especially for Game 1. They were able to maintain posession and get far more scoring chances than Cornell. It was an impressive show from BC, who look to be national title caliber. How can Cornell compete with the likes of BC strategically? Jenner, Saulnier, and Fulton looked pretty tired in the 3rd period (the whole team did, but it doesn' bode well for the top goal scorers).

BC is definitely a very strong contender on the national level.  Their record is now 5-1.  Cornell's record is now 0-1.  I would posit that the fact that BC just played their 6th game and Cornell their 1st might also have something to do with the outcome.

Headed to the game this afternoon.  Here's hoping for a better outcome now that they've had a game to get their regular-season bearings.
