This is deserving of its own thread. Here is the bracket.

BU @ #1 Minnesota Saturday 3/15 @ 5 pm (EDT)

Harvard @ #4 Wisconsin Saturday 3/15 @ 8 pm (EDT)

Mercyhurst @ #2 Cornell Saturday 3/15 @ 3:00 pm

BC @ #3 Clarkson Saturday 3/15 at 4 pm per the Clarkson MICE announcers.

Bummer that three of the games will be airing concurrently.

Why not show loyalty to Cornell and show the time as per Cornell's website? Who'd know more, quicker, than the hosting team?

I did look there, but the Athletic department hasn't posted anything yet. Last of the host teams to do so. Must be too busy taking photos from the wrestling championship.

You sure you're not not maybe forgetting to hit the refresh button? I went to the scheduler at 9:05 pm and, uh-oh ... c'mon, Cornell, you don't have to be sitting in Teagle Hall to keep the site up to date.

Or maybe Mercyhurst jumped the gun? A 3:30 start seems kind of late given that the men are playing that night and the rink staff will need time to take down all of the NCAA signage after the women's game. (Remember, the NCAA covers all of the ads in the arena, because if there is anything that the NCAA is opposed to, it is a logo that can be seen if the NCAA is not getting a cut of the action.)

When else would they play it? Saturday noon? I think the host school would get some flexibility in setting the time and they set it midafternoon. Your ears will ring at Schoellkopf with reminders to drop by and support the Big Red right after the lax game.

If it is indeed at 3:30 then perhaps Athletics is trying to make some other arrangements simultaneously (push the Men's game back until 8?).

Last year, without a men's game, the start time was 1:00. The two years prior started at 2:00 -- each had a men's game, one started at 7:45 and one at 7:00. So says the website... I sure as heck can't remember.

I'm guessing the 7:45 start time was just the regularly scheduled 7:00 playoff game being pushed back due to the women's game going into the third OT. (Box score here:

I don't remember the exact details, though I was at both games, so someone else can complete them, but there was something about the men's game the night before being one of the longest games in Lynah history and then the women topped it the very next day.

I think you are correct.  I suspect they did not want to conflict with lacrosse, so therefore scheduled it for after that game.  Also they did announce at the 2/28 Dartmouth game, that it would be starting later if the women's game was delayed.  So I think they are just trying to give everyone an opportunity to go to all, or any, of the games if they want to.

What, no dogs allowed at Schoellkopf! I thought that was a condition of the gift.

Mercyhurst takes the QF matchup, 3-2. Really hard-fought game by both teams. I feel for this Cornell women's team tremendously. Mercyhurst played very well, especially in winning pucks and slowing us down through the neutral zone. I'd be remiss to not mention the refereeing, which did seem to be a huge buzz-kill for the Big Red (I counted 2 clear non-calls of 'Hurst penalties and 1 questionable call against the Red). Also of note is 'Hurst's large bench, which enabled them to be the fresher team as the game wore on (and playing with a lead helps in this regard). This concludes the 2013-2014 season. We say farewell to a senior class in Hayleigh Cudmore, Alyssa Gagliardi, Jessica Campbell, and Lauren Slebodnick who have all given us four years of fantastic hockey and have certainly helped elevate the profile of women's hockey at Cornell. They will be missed!

Tough one to lose. I hate whining about refs but, um, yeah, uh, let's just say it was interesting. I agree about the short CU bench. It was obvious MC had the better legs for a lot of the 3rd. CU talent made the game interesting at the end even though they were tired.
