Quote from: RobbAccording to this guy, Bardreau seems to have locked up a spot on the 4th line.  USA playing Sweden right now, 2-2 with 11:30 left in the 3rd.  Video here: http://nutjob.eu/njtvx6.html.

Good recap evaluation here. Our boy is near the top of the list!

Quote from: Chris PetersCole Bardreau — F — Through the first period, Bardreau was Team USA's best forward. He's playing a grinder type of role, but he has such speed and tenacity that he was able to get a few offensive chances as well. He was great on the PK and was a terror for opposing D on the forecheck. He even the body around a bit. He's a role player, but he's really good at that role.

That's our boy. A grinder, a roll player. ;-)

much better than a sub or a hero
Not as good as a hoagie.

An interesting NYT article about Seth Jones, one of Bardreau's US National teammates.

Whaddya mean "+1"? The other terms are clever double entendres. If he had said "Better than a po'boy" then we can discuss such high accolades.

Maybe the "offensive chances" were with onions.

I was changing the conversation, not adding another clever double entendre.

Sub-text?
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

+1 because of the Philly reference.  Not because of the double meaning.

Now if he'd said "puck hoagie" it would be +2.

Just a heads up for everyone watching the games, one of the top line forwards on team USA is Boston College's John Gardreau, so listen carefully before assuming they're calling Cole's name.

Does anyone know when they're making the final cuts?  If I'm not mistaken, there's 26 on the current roster for 23 final spots, with most likely one forward and two defensemen to cut.

Cole makes the final roster, and not only that, will wear an A on his jersey for approximately half the games.  So that means we won't have him for Estero definitely and likely not for Denver either unless team USA is out very early.

That's not right.  Andy was on team USA two years ago.  The way it is listed is based on when the tournament ends I guess, making this the 2013 World Junior Championships.

You're right.  Fixed.

Cole's line has drawn two German penalties in the first 6 minuteas of the game.  Both drawn by his right winger Ryan Hartman.  1-0 team USA on a goal on the first shift of the game.

I don't think he'll end up with a point, but Cole was parked in front of the net for a Trouba slapshot that made it 2-0 8:30 into the first.

After the first period, 3-0 team USA.  Cole +1, his line draws two German penalties, and in the first PK unit an on the ice for probably about half of a successful penalty kill.

Cole picks up his first point getting the secondary assist at 7:55 into the second period.  Beautiful long pass up ice during a line change to Pietila, who shoots it and Hartman buries the rebound.  6-0 USA now.  The 5th goal was ripped from the point on the powerplay by Union defenseman (and Flyers prospect unfortunately) Shayne Gotisbehere.

Cole draws a hooking penalty with about 4 minutes to go in the second.  Still 6-0 USA.

Cole on the ice for goal by Seth Jones to make it 8-0 halfway through the third.  The 8 goals have been scored by 8 different players.

8-0 final.  Nice win.  Will be interesting to see how they do tomorrow against Russia.  I would assume before a much bigger and much more partisan crowd too.
