7-6 Bucknell mid-second.  Awful kicking game--missed short field goal and missed extra point.  Back-up center can't make a shotgun snap hurting Matthews's timing.

An uncharacteristically bland offensive performance from the Red (no passing TDs for Matthews, though he did run one in), but they pulled out the 15-10 win.  Another missed extra point in the 4th can't have made Austin's night.

I didn't see the game, but I did note last week that our placekicking looked like trouble. We're just lucky it didn't cost us tonight, but hopefully the coaches can work this out.

The soccer team is 9-0. Surely there's someone who can kick over there.

Work out the kinks of snapping and blocking perhaps but turn a good HS kicker one or two years removed into Brad Greenway, that would be tough.

Harvard tuned up for Cornell by taking out Holy Cross, 52-3.

After last night, I'd be happy with a good HS kicker.

I actually caught then end of the fist half on WHCU (weird atmospheric conditions, I guess).  They suggested at the end of the half that Cornell might want to pass on the field goal attempt and go for the end zone.  Luckily, we didn't need those points, but it shows how bad the kicking game is.

The EV of going for two is about 1 point, so hey, why not! Throw in the fact we have Matthews and a (very?) sub-par kicker, and it might clearly favor going for 2.

Caveats:
- Game situation applies
- You need your kicker for FG's and probably want him to have some shred of confidence remaining

No, they were suggesting going for 7 instead of 3.

Whoops. The perils of posting while working. Although the idea still stands.

You know what really ruins a kicker's confidence? Missing all of his kicks. If the kicker isn't good enough to make the chip shots I couldn't care less about his confidence (as a matter of in-game strategy; I hope he still feels good about himself generally).
