Locke Jillson is an alumnus of the Green Bay Gamblers, who play at Resch, as is Steven Baby.  Anyone else of note?

Quote from: Jim HylaI haven't decided yet. I do have a room at the Days Inn. I have no idea how good it is, but it's only a block away and $70-90 plus taxes. Anybody stayed there? I just canceled my rooms at the other regionals.:`-(
I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in '06 and will be there again this year.  It's also right by the arena.  AAA rate and senior rate are $98.  In '06 the Wisconsin team was staying there - don't know if they always host the #1 seeded team.  I just canceled Worcester and St. Paul reservations also.

You weren't going to go if the game was in Bridgeport?

Would've stayed with family in Queens.

As a Michigan and Cornell grad, I am quite excited for this, given that I hate Michigan hockey with a passion inversely proportionate to that with which I root for Michigan football.

But also, and RichH and I discussed this in AC, I feel we match up best with Michigan, amongst the 1st seeds that we can play.  Take a look at their scoring and defense by periods:  they are overwhelmingly a first-period team.  BC and NoDak are more balanced, and that's no fun for us, I think.  If we can stay close, by which I mean even down by one heading into the second, I think we have a good chance of winning this game.  I think we have the speed to stay with Michigan, and one would hope, the Hahvahd debacle fresh in the collective mind of the team, that we can play a disciplined shut down style from the start and then open it up in subsequent periods.

Things to Do in Green Bay

1) watch hockey Friday
2) Lambeau Field Tour - Lambeau's across the street from the rink.
3) National Railroad Museum
4) watch other regionals in a sports bar
5) watch hockey Saturday

Regional road crowds have been dwindling in recent years.  I think Cornell sold 300 tickets for Minneapolis in '05, it was probably under 200 in GB in '06 and less for Grand Rapids in '09.  Even for Easern regionals, there was a much much smaller Cornell contingent in Albany in '10 than in Providence in '03.

So if you can, get there - the team needs your support and I don't want to just listen to Michigan fans do all our cheers.

The Resch Center website shows that single game tickets will be available tomorrow (3/19) - in case you want to leave if we don't advance.  Two game packages are currently available.   Tickets through the schools have been two day packages in the past - not sure about this year.

I cannot speak to the crowds in Providence in '03, but I do know that there were a lot of conflicts during our series in Albany in 2010.  I believe that was the same weekend that bball was playing in the Sweet Sixteen in Syracuse.  And students may not have wanted to spend both weekends of their spring break in Albany, NY.

If your interested in a complete rundown on the brackets, including times and TV, this link is from cornellbigred.com.

I may not go this year, but everyone should plan for next year. Regionals are Providence, Manchester, Toledo, and Grand Rapids. The Frozen Four is in Pittsburgh. All reasonable drives. It's too bad one of Toledo or Grand Rapids coudn't have been this year.

Doesn't do me any good here in London.

But it is on ESPN3, so if you have a proxy or VPN...

Fortunately the RIT fans made up the slack. :-}

I'm making the drive from Ithaca. Probably going to stop somewhere along the way. If anyone's interested, let me know. I can get reasonable room rates with my SPG reward points.

Theoretically, you could get yourself a VPS in the US and set up a tunnel using OpenVPN to make it look like your computer is in the US. Theoretically. :-)

Five reasons why this seems to be a calm thread with no whining about why we're not placed in Bridgeport:

1. This was a rebuilding year
2. We don't have Brian Ferlin (though did Barry Melrose & Co. on the selection show make a present-tense reference to Ferlin?)
3. We were lucky to squeeze into the NCAAs at all
4. If we have to play a 1-seed, we match up reasonably well with Michigan
5. This could be a prelude to a Thanksgiving 2012 game at Madison Square Garden

1) Agreed
2) Yes
3) If we took care of business we could have been a 2 or a 3, so I'm not sure I'd call it lucky, but a fair amount of events did break our way.
4) Also agreed
5) Can't wait for either. Hopefully Michigan will be wanting revenge.

O.K., but explain this to me....
The CU website says game time is 9pm local time or 1:30pm EDT??
