Since I should be doing a math problem set and studying for finals, I decided I wasn't a big fan of the current jerseys and did a mockup of a new scheme. There's some things I would like to play with and improve, but I can do that after math :P

Annnd I got Iles' number wrong. That's fairly pathetic.

But the elegance in the current jersey is in the simplicity...

What don't you like about the current jerseys? They are classic, understated, but very RED. Having huggy bear makes them, in my opinion, cartoonish.

They're too bland for my taste, personally, and to be honest, the tradition doesn't really mean anything to me. As my friend said the other day... "It's not like there's anything wrong with them, it's just that I always like the other team's jerseys better."

On one hand, I don't want to be an cranky old fan discouraging a younger one from taking an interest in his/er own way in the team.

On the other hand, NO.

Which other team?  Most college jerseys seem to have the team name in the team colors, and the ones that don't like Clarkson's Harley alternate look horrible.

I think they look pretty cool.

But I've seen what happens when teams start messing with their traditional colors and design. Jersey designers will eventually have us wearing crimson.

Do we really want to look like Quinnipiac? I have always thought our jerseys (especially the away Red's) are among the best in the country.

I think the last thing Cornell needs is better marketing for its hockey team: it commands a pretty good crowd already. What it needs is more wins.

Messing with the jerseys is what a mediocre team does because it has to put asses in the seats, and it can't do that with on-ice performance.

Not all bad, but I'm pretty strongly against the black trim.  Our colors are red and white, not red, white, and black.
Let's Go RED!

Did you notice BU's jerseys?  They haven't changed since I started watching them play in the 70's.  And they happen to be almost identical to ours.  And the Detroit Red Wings'.

I personally like that there have been few, if any, changes over the years.  It reflects pride in the tradition; generations of Cornell hockey players have warn the same hockey sweaters.

cbuckser

Switching to those sweaters would be like going from Parris Duffus to Eddie Skazyk as the number one goaltender.

BTW, welcome! I don't think any of us intend our criticism to mean "go away". We're all just very opinionated. :-)

Exactly right.  Please, no black. It's almost gone from the football jerseys, so let's not introduce it on the hockey sweaters.
