I think we need to stop saying that these recruits have "committed" to one school or another. ::rolleyes::

on twitter yesterday, it was McCarron himself who said he committed to W. Mich.  FWIW, somebody asked what's up and he said "I can't get into Cornell man my act was not good enough".

I saw all that transpire on twitter.  It's certainly a shame, but it is what it is.

That is too bad, but this additional news is much better than what was going through my pea brain......

" I saw Cornell get eaten up on the Q-Pac Deertick network free video stream on Saturday.  Western Michigan, here I come.  Yippee yayo kayay, go Broncos."
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

A bit of sour grapes?  Wish him the best out there.  Another data point illustrating the difficulty of Ivy League recruiting.

How is that sour grapes?  To me, it sounds like he really did want to come to Cornell, but just couldn't get his ACT high enough, so he's having to go to his safety school.  It's not like he's running the Cornell program down and saying he never wanted to go there anyway.

McCarron didn't say that -- It was just Marty's joking reaction (by creating the imaginary quote) as to what went through Marty's mind when he saw that McCarron was going to WMU -- that is, the loss to Q-pac was so awful that it made a recruit change his commitment.  That is not at all what occurred in this case.

Ha, when he said "act" I thought it was hip lingo for his overall academic situation.  I forgot about the ACTs.
03/23/02: Maine 4, Harvard 3
03/28/03: BU 6, Harvard 4
03/26/04: Maine 5, Harvard 4
03/26/05: UNH 3, Harvard 2
03/25/06: Maine 6, Harvard 1

If he had written that I would interpret it as sour grapes.  If you don't, that's your prerogative.  The wording reads negative to me.  Apparently it was Marty putting words in his keyboard, so it's irrelevant anyway.

Sorry for any confusion.  I really did think that he had decided against attending Cornell until I read the details here.  It's really too bad he can't make the cut academically.

Big Red Puckhead broke this about a month ago, but I haven't seen it here yet.

QuoteCameron Hackett (6' 2", 196), a 1996-born goalie from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario committed to Cornell for 2014.

Quote from: jtn27As I'm sure most of you already know the US Mens's Under 18 team that we play tonight has a player, Michael McCarron, who has already committed to Cornell for next season (in fact, it's probably already on this thread somewhere, but I don't feel like looking). This roster lists where all the players have committed to, but four of them (Goalies Thatcher Dekmo, Curtis Frye, and Hunter Miska, and defenseman Clint Lewis) don't have any commitments listed. Does anyone know if any of these four players are potential Cornell recruits?

Now we do.

From http://unitedstatesofhockey.com/2012/09/18/2012-13-ntdp-preview-u-s-national-under-18-team/

QuoteClint Lewis (Not yet committed) — At 6-2, 206, Lewis is more of the stay-at-home kind of defenseman and plays the role well. He gets involved in games physically and is able to get the job done mostly in his own end. Lewis is durable, dependable and strong. He showed more offensive capabilities in his days at Shattuck-St. Mary's, but his commitment to defense makes him an intriguing prospect and should keep him on some teams' draft boards.

Nice report about Lewis from the Prospects Game earlier this fall
