Hoping that Cornell gets the kinks out and both goalies battle for the top spot by playing well.

Looks like it is time for a new addition to the spelling guide.

Isle agree with that.

Isle!

Who are you and what have you done with Mike Schafer? Actually I like what I saw, a faster more aggressive team. The UNH goals were scored mostly on defensive breakdowns. Let's hope we can get the kinks worked out of this system.

I didn't like what I saw. Yes, the offense was fast and got a lot of shots, but the defense was not just breakdowns, but was terrible. It reminded me of the UND game from two years ago. Don't get me wrong, I want to see us be able to skate fast and shoot more often. But it has to start with defense first, and then if the chance is there, go on offense.

Last week we broke out of our zone by skating as soon as we got the puck, yesterday we fell back on our age old take it behind the net and try and set it up with a break out pass. The difference between the weeks was that last week our defense could get control early in the shift and start skating out, last night we'd play a whole shift on defense and had to retreat to change lines. Then too often their forecheck got to us and we were on defense again. The difference was obviously the quality of the opponent's offense.

Hopefully, like against UND, we can bounce back and play good defense, then and only then can we win some games. We're never going to be able to purely skate with the big boys, especially in a rebuilding year. If we can add this offense to our good D, then go for it.

On the good side, we seem to have some shooters, who are trying to pick heir spots, last night going high. The freshmen are fitting in well, good offense and good defensive possibilities. Although Garman didn't have his best night, I can't blame him for it all. Too often the D left him wide open, good teams will take advantage, and UNH has a very good first line and team.

It's too bad this game came first, later in the year the outcome might be a lot different, for I suspect Schafer will get the D back together. Tonight's game should help.
