Rob Koll is not a small man. I can't believe he's got a kid who wrestles at 103. Is he in 7th grade?
From his bio at mywrestlingroom.com [ http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2006/5/23/Rob-Koll-Position-Head-Coach-College-North-Carolina-89 ]:

"Koll and his wife, Rachel, live in Lansing and have two sons, William and Daniel."

He's a 9th-grader.

I liked this bit:
Quote112#  Sophomore Corey Dake  Won his second Section IV wrestling title in as many years, beating Norwich's Tanner Cummings in the Final 6-0.
More Dakes. Keep 'em coming!

Quote from: Rob KollThe team is healing up nicely and it is great to finally have Mike Grey back in action. He looks great and you can expect to see him back in the near future. Cam Simaz has also returned to active practice and will also be back sooner than later.

Starting with the Lehigh match on Thursday,  WPIE will be streaming coverage of Cornell's remaining 9 dual meets plus the EIWA semis and finals. For those of you in Ithaca, 7 of the 9 duals will be broadcast over the air.

The streaming coverage will be free on WPIE. Nice.

Al DeFlorio

Lehigh 17, Cornell 15 final score in the dual meet.  Bonus points for two major decisions win it for Lehigh.

Tough loss for Cornell, and ends the possibility of an unbeaten season. Bosak and Kerber both lost, very surprising. Maybe a good wake up call for 2 months before nationals.

Seems like National duals were missing some big teams, as Penn State, Lehigh and Iowa look like they all could be top 5 teams at NCAAs.

Al DeFlorio

Sunday's wrestling dual meet with Iowa State will be telecast live at 1pm on Time Warner sports (Syracuse) and SportsNet New York.

So glad that Grey is coming back. Stanzione has been slipping. Manson was seconds from winning his match (and the dual) but got turned for a 3 point nearfall. Damn.

Thanks, I knew there was a reason I was driving back right after the Harvard game.

Wrestlers crush Binghamton but Kyle Dake loses fitst match of the year.

I'm guessing Dake was sick. The only really burst of energy he displayed was in the first 10 seconds. He spent the rest of the match looking gassed, tending his bloodied mouth, fretting over his headgear, and surrendering points for stalling. The Binghamton wrestler certainly deserved to win as he was aggressive and essentially slapped Dake around during much of the third period.

I get the feeling Dake has been nursing injuries or illness for a while now. He's been winning close in matches that he should be dominating. Kind of conserving energy and doing just enough to win.

By the way, the loss to Lehigh dropped Cornell to #2 but I think we'd still be considered #1 if Grey - who scored an impressive 18-6 MD in his first match back - is really at full strength.
