Yeah, "lost in overtime to" is an interesting definition for "outlasted."

and again, we have a defenseman named Matt McRae... Sure, they're twins and they might look alike and they could both be referred to as M. McRae but how hard is it to remember (or even look up on the roster???) that the defenseman is Mark and the forward is Matt?

Um, I don't know if the article got changed, but it does say "nearly outlasted" Northern Michigan.  That implies that Cornell lost the game, at least to me.  :-P

Age is right.  I can swear that "nearly" wasn't there 30 minutes ago.

Despite a few factual errors, I thought the article was enjoyable to read.  In addition, the article portrayed the hockey program in a positive light to a target audience of NHL fans, most of whom have little familiarity with NCAA hockey.

You're correct. I revisited the article and my browser loaded the page from cache; there was no "nearly". A quick refresh and the "nearly" magically appeared.

tml5

Sweet.  I'm guessing that wasn't a facts error, but an editing mistake.  After all, if they haven't changed the Matt/Mark McRae thing (they hadn't last time I was there). . .

Unless, of course, someone sent them an email.  But that's just impossible! Nobody on this forum could have access to email!  ::twitch::

:-))

I don't think anyone on this forum would want to correct the article. ;-)  Someone from, say, Northern Michigan might be upset, though.

Beeeej

Besides, do you see a link anywhere on the NHL page for "E-mail us"?

somwone should point out next time on USCHO that we have invited some of the BIG WCHA schools to Lynah but that they neglect to come...scared?

interesting. i think that i sat right near the guy who wrote the story. or a least he did so before the game started. One of the section O regulars was talking to someone about Cornell hockey and nhl and such. it was clear that he was a visitor and not hooked up with either team.
I liked the article a lot. pretty good stuff. maybe espn will come and tape the harvard game next year? ;-)

ps
there is a link for email us on the page... ::nut::

I'm guessing the department rankings are taken from the latest National Research Council survey, which ranks graduate departments.  Having spent the better part of 20 years working either with or for colleges and universities, I would say these are the *only* rankings to which faculty, department chairs, and deans give any real credence.
