Good thing he rushed out of Cornell for that pro career.

Seems to be a recurring theme.  The guys that have had the most recent success -- coincidence or not -- are the ones who stayed four years.

When he came on the big screen last night at the Flyers game (for some promo), people actually booed him.

have you seen him hand out the cup? he gets booed everywhere, and deservedly so. you can thank nj fans for starting that trend after he tried to move them to nashville in 95.

Scott Mayer '03 played a couple games for the Elmira Jackals (ECHL).

I'm the one who views hockey games merely as something to do before going to Rulloff's and Dino's.

Ah, good ol' facetimer.

Scott Mayer '03 never played varsity hockey for Cornell.  He is/was the meteorologist for Elmira station WETM, as the youtube user/elf resident nyiballs pointed out in the video description.  Scott Mayer played club hockey at Cornell and has filled in for Jackals practices and other Elmira hockey events, but never got into a game AFAIK.  He also has done some color work for Jackal broadcasts.

I'd forgotten about that.  Always makes me smile when he gets booed.

And yes, I joined in.  ::whistle::

And, if you believe Scott (which I don't), he "backed up David LeNeveu on the '03 team".   Yes, Scott actually told me that one day....   After that, believed his weather forecasts even less.....::demented::

Scott was 4th on the depth chart at goalie in the '03 season.  Though there were only 3 roster spots on the varsity team, I do believe he was given the opportunity to back up LeNeveu during the Red/White game.  I don't have the box score from that game (maybe Greg Berge can help me out with that), but if this is true, Scott's statement was accurate.

And, if we're going to accept that stretch, why don't we just include any underclassman (who can skate) with any remaining NCAA athletic eligibility?   After all, they ALL could play on the varsity if a shortage develops.

Saying Scott Mayer backed up LeNeveu is about like me proclaiming that I am a Viet Nam Vet because I served during the Viet Nam War (& did NOT go to southeast Asia).   I had a VA Rep actually tell me once that I am a Viet Nam Vet.   It's bullshit and an insult to those who bravely trudged through those rice patties.....The same can be said for Scott Mayer's story!!
