Based on the other options, I think it's a pretty good first-round draw for us.  It seems more likely that we'll be able to get them to play our style (which probably isn't terribly far from their style) than trying to slow down a team like Yale.  First team to three goals might be the winner here...
I think you are right and it's not to our advantage.  If their style is our style they win.  Why?

- not pushing them off their game
- THeir goalie has the same sv % as scrivens but northeastern gives up a lot more shots. So they give up a few more goals against.  But since we can't finish... and they seem to have some scorers..

- then warm up the bus if they get the first one.

Only way we win is by being absolutely on our A-game defensively and catching a bounce on offense.  1-0 or 2-1.  Agreed that 3 goals is the winner for either side
Agreed. I saw them beat BU in OT in early March. Very similar styles. I felt like I was watching Cornell at certain points, especially when the Huskies had a power play.

That might just bode well for our penalty kill.

I am no coach, but I am guessing that Northeastern will try its best NOT to play Cornell's style of hockey when the two teams meet on Saturday. It's pretty obvious that every team from here on out will try to play Cornell the way Yale did in the ECAC final. Let's hope that coach Schafer has made the necessary defensive rearrangements and that our players are mentally and physically prepared come Saturday. LGR!

I'm no coach either, but I would think that if I had a team that was described as very Cornell-esque and I was successful with that all season, I would not try and enter the NCAA tournament playing a different style of hockey. Sure I might emphasize certain advantages to my players and when it might make some sense to take risks - as I'd imagine all coaches do for every game - but I've got to imagine that their coach is confident that he can win playing the way they've played all year.

"Cornell hockey" is probably as meaningful to Northeastern as "Northeastern hockey" is to us, and "Northeastern hockey" doesn't conjure up any image AFAIK. :-}

Northeastern hockey is generally described as "what you see in consolation games."

(Yes, I know that should probably be "whom" and that I ended the sentence with a preposition, but I don't care.)

It's "you dance with th' one that brung ya", stop trying to make it into a proper sentence.

Per Ralph Kiner, it's actually "you dance with the girl what brung you."

Don't sell them short! As a Boston based person, I see a number of their games. I even root for them at the Beanpot every year (Harvard Sucks, Screw BU and I hate BC).

They do have a habit of choking during big games, like during this years Beanpot.

Nobody is selling them short. We are giving ourselves hope.
