whats the point of this arguing? we all know that cornell is going to have the last laugh anyway...because they are going to destroy colgate on the ice.

redraider13

So are you saying we should only come over here and try to hype up the game when we think we are going to win?

wes oak

yea, i think its a given that we are going to win...we are just pretending like it's gonna be close so there is something to get hyped about.

Greg Berge

I sense some Reverse Woofing here, trying to fake out the Hockey Gods.

IIRC, that never works.  I just hope we win, and if necessary I'll take 3-2 in overtime if that's what gets it done.

Let's Go Red!

wes oak

id rather take a 6-0 win, which is what the game is prolly going to end up being.

wow good job guys. go post that crap on your own fan forum. OH WAIT....

jtwcornell91

Your post-game postings give me little hope of this, but this experience should be a lesson about why you should not shoot your mouth off before a game about how certain victory is, lest you look like a complete moron and subject the rest of us to blowback from the grief you brought on yourself from the other team's fans.

jtwcornell91

Aside from the fact that celebration of any kind on the forum of a vanquished foe is poor form (when I posted to the Clarkson Roundtable to ask why no one was ringing the bell, I made sure to keep my tone polite and cast my reaction to the weekend as appreciation that my team had done well to get four points out of a very tough roadtrip), the posting of an alma mater itself is hardly crapful.

Now you want to talk crap, how about the TV play-by-play announcer cheering and waving a rally towel in the booth?  I would be embarrassed if my school were associated with that operation.  (As I was embarrassed by the drunken idiot who announced the last Skating Utes game before I took over as Utah PA announcer my last year in Salt Lake.)

redraider13

look, I've been nothing but reactionary.  None of us came over here claiming our team would win.   The subject of that only came up the day of the game.  A few guys were complaining about the webcast, so I made a joke that they should listen to theirs.  He responded by posting our record.  I commented that it was still a 1-1 game, which was all that mattered.  He said we'll see about that.  And he asked me how id feel after the game, and to keep dreaming.  So I will take a small amount of payback I was goaded into.   Especially after what I admit to be a shock upset.  I posted that last link, because I believe the post above it was implying that Colgate did not have a message board.  So I posted the adress of mine.   There was also a Cornell poster who irritated me on my site for about 2 years, just doing something like posting those little smileys after a loss.  So I did take a little payback for that too.  I am better now!

About the announcer, there's nothing to argue with there.  You saw it, I saw it.  You either like it or you don't.   I will say the CUTC audience was exclusively CUTV students up until that broadcast, and his actions were based on that.

You're a COLGATE fan?

Were you at the game tonight?

I hope so.

Heh heh heh.

Don't try to be a prophet...never works.

Hi again, Cornell!

This will, in all probability, be my last post until next year...

First of all, let me say that I am not gloating.  Okay, well, I'm really happy and screamed my head off, but I'm still realistic.  The Cornell hockey team is absolutely amazing.  You deserve to be very proud.  If I was a Cornell student, I'd certainly be proud of them, and I probably would have been just as certain of victory beforehand.

Things got kind of...messy...third period.  I admit I found it a bit ironic when the same people who posted and posted about how terribly rude it was to play over Swanee, played over us, the sound guy, etc. multiple times.  I'll be nice and chalk it up to end-of-the-game-and-still-tied nerves.

Your fans are really quite scary.  Then again, so are ours.

Avash, that was seriously rude.  I freely admit that posting the alma mater was a bit, well, rude, but calling it 'that crap' is extremely insulting.  I can deal with a lot of insults, but insulting our alma mater is going too far.  Especially on top of your pep band not respecting our alma mater enough to wait while we played it--after WE had stood up, removed our hats, and remained silent for the playing of Cornell's alma mater. Grr.

Oh, how I wish we could go to Lynah.  Even though the fans would frighten me, it would be so much fun...

Okay, I'm really tired, and I can't talk, and I have a Chinese quiz tomorrow, and I have to wash my face four times to get the face paint off...so I'll stop.

Till next year then, oh ye Cornell Pep Band (except for lacrosse...and possibly basketball...but we'll pretend, for the sake of my dramatic exit).

Love and Kisses,

Ana

By the way - did the band play Swanee at Starr?
