How about Cornell at Michigan in the Big House?

Not for football, cause that would be ridiculous (we'd kill them) - but in a hockey game.  Michigan is talking about scheduling an outdoor game in December 2010.  Outdoor game at the Big House.  I say we start the petition now.  We travel well and it would be awesome.  Unfortunately, if this happens it'll probably end up being against Wisconsin, Minny, Mich St or Ohio St.  It would be a pretty fun game though, and a great OOC game too.

We do travel well. But I don't think we'd bring anywhere near the number of fans to Ann Arbor that Wisconsin would. They're trying to sell 80,000 seats. That's an awful lot of seats.

I'd go though.

I'm actually at grad school in ann arbor now and I didn't mean to imply that we would fill the Big House, but we wouldn't have to...from what I've seen in this town, they'd sell out the stadium with just Michigan students and other fans from around this area.  All that would be left would be the reserved tickets anyway which (at least for football games) are always at the top of the section.  Even though I'm graduating before that game would take place, I'd be there in a second.

Also, Cornell is actually getting a few mentions on some Michigan sites for who they'd like to see at the Big House.  I'd say Minnesota is the favorite so far though.

Yes, what a great idea.  Let's go to Michigan to see a game in a stadium made for a different sport, where we can't see the action. ::rolleyes:: This gimmick has already ruined the 2010 Frozen Four, let's not encourage it to spread further.

JTW, I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way about the Detroit Debacle.   Oh well, it's only one year.   Then we go back to a real hockey venue for the 2011 Frozen Four

I had to look it up.

2010 might be saved yet if the Big 3 go out of business before then.  And I suppose 2012 could be saved if, I dunno, global warming moves the coastline up to Charlotte.

Then again, what will save this year?

Where was the previous Phrozen Phour freon/ice disaster?  Cincinnati?  At least we'll be in a cool city for partying this time.

I can see this year's F4 from my house.  Nothing can or should save it.

In order to get Minnesota to travel for a NC game, they will have to sell out the big house and give the goofers half the gate!

Yep Cinci.  A most memorable first FF for me.

ansky629

So, after all that it comes out that Michigan has already picked an opponent and it's going to be Michigan State.  I think it woulda been cooler if it wasn't a team they already play 3 or 4 times a year, but whatever.  Link

Having never been to one of these events I still think it's kind of cool.  Especially if the weather is cold and snowing like it was in Buffalo, Jan 1, 2008.  But I do think gimmick games should be reserved for regular season affairs or exhibitions.  Playing the FF that way is a bad idea.

(I might think differently if tickets were actually difficult to come by for the Frozen Four. But they're not.)
