Well, any time you send BC, Maine, and ND fans home feeling sad, it can't be a bad thing.:-D Doing it with a team taken right out of Schafer's book, makes it especially sweet to me. They worked hard, never gave up, got some luck and made more. They played it tight with good D and goaltending. I liked it and the games were fun to watch.::popcorn::

A hockey season that never ends......Hmmm....That sounds like a dream come true!!    But, in this case, they did clear the ice & run off the last 1.2 seconds.    It happened so quickly that I missed the actual faceoff.   It seemed like a pointless exercise.   But, I can understand the need to do it.

There was no faceoff; Jerry York basically said "Go ahead and run the clock."  In fact although the Spartans were doing everything they could to clear the ice of themselves and their gear, there was never even a point when there were few enough people on the ice to have a faceoff.

Some UNH fans afterward pointed out this sort-of-true fact:  It was the shortest title game in history.  :-D

Coach York, being the class act that he is (why do those two Boston schools seem to have such long term and seemingly nice coaches?) just said it's over.

After Mueller's tally, BC coach Jerry York told the officials just to run out the clock, acknowledging it was over.

"I couldn't hear the horn, so I thought the horn went off," said MSU senior defenseman Tyler Howells. "It was bad on our part, that we went out there early. I think your emotions are running, so you don't know what's going on.

"For them to call the game like that, it just shows great character. Jerry has been there before, and, you know, it just shows what type of guy he is."

I think the MSU players confused the goal horn with the end-of-game horn and weren't trying to be obnoxious. I think Jerry York knew it also and, while I have no reason to believe he isn't a class act - and he was within his rights to have everyone ordered off the ice - I think the last thing he or his players needed to see were the Spartans going bananas and throwing their equipment into the air twice.

I have to hand it to MSU. They crashed the net once all game and scored a goal when they did. That was probably the first championship game in NCAA history where the people yelling "shoooooooooooot!" were correct.

Great goaltending and D, though. All of those blocked pucks made me think we were watching Cornell v. Cornell.

I also feel good for Kennedy. After he blew that redirect - a play that they had been trying to set up all game - getting the tying goal had to feel pretty f'ing good.

Congratulations, MSU. I have nothing against your team except that Ryan Miller stole the Hobey from LeNeveu.

Way better games, two of three at least, than the basketball final four this year.

For those watching from home, ESPN cheaped out and used standard-def cameras. Unless it was that St. Louis has permanent cameras in the rink and HD hasn't come to that fair city, so ESPN had no (affordable) choice. I thought last year's title game was in HD. Although Bob Norton was plenty enough in standard-def.

I remember reading that ESPN only has two HD trucks and they were dedicated to NBA and NASCAR (I think) that weekend in locations not close to St. Louis. Can you blame them for not putting games that can only draw sponsors like boss411.com in HD (says the person with a standard def TV and couldn't care less about the difference)?

Their best shot at getting into Cornell took shape the second you got into Cornell. It probably also wouldn't hurt their chances if you endowed a RatushnyFan Professor of Low Expectations in the Government Department.
