The lack of promotion on the web is odd, especially since it doesn't cost MSG anything to put it on their website, but I've definitely heard it advertised on the radio during a Rangers game once or twice.
There have been television commercials as well.

That's not it, really.

The game, including the marketing, etc is a production ofthe two schools, not of MSG so they are not responsible for marketing efforts.  They're basically just selling tickets.

That said, there was a link on the Rangers website for several weeks to Ticketmaster plus many in-game ads on their radio broadcasts for the game.

Who paid for the radio spots, I don't know but in any case, I think it's inaccurate to say that MSG doesn't care.  It's in their best interests to see the game sell out if for no other reason than concession sales.

Plus a full house would bode well for a potential future Frozen Four bid.

For a while it was an almost guaranteed ad during every commercial break on Rangers hockey radio (heard at least 10 times during games on a few separate occasions)

Nice piece in today's Journal giving insight into genesis of the scheduling of the game:

I did not realize there was a college game played at MSG in 2003 as mentioned in the Ithaca Journal story.  I had thought the last college game there was in '76 or '77.

Who were the participants?

MAAC Game
Saturday, March 1, 2003 at Madison Square Garden (Att: 2115)

The game recap: http://www.uscho.com/recaps/20022003/m/03/01/uconn-qu.php

[Q]Saturday marked the first Division I hockey game at Madison Square Garden since 1977, when Boston University beat St. Lawrence in a holiday tournament.

The game came off as such a success that there are already talks in place of another Quinnipiac-UConn game in New York City, and possibly a yearly game at MSG.[/Q]

Thanks, I had forgotten about that.

anyone understand how the lower level seats work?  On the seating chart at www.thegarden.com, the odd # section (59 for example) is in front of the even # section (60).  Is that because they cant fit both side by side?  Or is because 59 really is in front of 60?

LGR!  Flight to NY from Dallas leaves in ~13 hrs...
