Cornell Basketball Offers Power Forward

I give a bit more detail in my blog, but the Ocala Star-Banner reports today that Cornell basketball has offered a spot on the team to Matt Sauey, a 6'7" class of 2008 power forward prospect from Ocala, Florida.

Seems like he would be quite a signing for Cornell, at least so far as this article asserts.  An aspiring engineer too?  Would be another great addition, and they think he'll add another inch or two.

He wants to go to Central Florida University for engineering?  Methinks Cornell Engineering might be a rude awakening for him, high GPA or not.

Raise your hand if you knew that UCF is the 6th largest US University by enrollment.  46,719.

I happen to know them just because they're one of the few places to have a dedicated dept. specifically in my field (optics/photonics).  Apparently they recently upgraded it from a dept. to college status.

I wouldn't be surprised if he could stay afloat in Cornell's engineering program but knows that he would drown if he were also playing basketball.

Does that number include people who have enrolled but dropped out? My sister-in-law is from that area and briefly attend UCF, or as the locals refer to it (according to her) "U Can't Finish".

Pete Reynolds is an engineering student and plays on the basketball team.  We've had other engineers in recent years as well.
