I wonder how much they (over)paid for this bit of marketing.  Hopefully not near Cornell's red box debacle.

I'm soooo unimpressed.
Further proof that it is an 'urban myth' that NYC marketing firms are groundbreaking.

Tell me that the ECAC could not have gotten something more memorable and exciting by hosting a logo competition among students of it's member schools??????

I know that expensive new logo is really going to excite the public to stand in long cold lines for tickets at next year's ECACHL-fragilistic league tournament !

Am I just a crab, or am i still Po'd and disappointed that the Big Red missed this year's tourney and path to my World series winning baseball team's home city --- St. Louis !!!!

Go Cardinals!!!!! Repeat in '07 !!!

Better than the previous logo but not as good as the one with the torch.

Am I the only one who thinks the old torch logo looks somewhat antiquated and just not appealing?  Though I wouldn't mind a new logo that incorporated a torch graphic.

(Oddly enough, I went to Google Image Search to find this and it found me an image hosted on ELynah.)

I see what you mean - it doesn't look polished, though that might be the image resolution as much as anything.  I'm not sure why fire is represented as yellow and black.  I think it could be updated without departing from the general idea, though.

Oh, also it's too much green and gold.  :-P

When did the ring logo originally debut? I kinda like it, just because its what I'm used to. I haven't seen that green & gold torch logo in about a decade.

A)  There already is an ECHA.
B)  When you've been around for as long as the ECAC, you probably don't want to depart from a consistent theme.  (Unless you're Gary fucking Bettman. ::bang:: )

99-00 season.

That year Cornell (at least) wore opposite color patches with the new logo (white patch on red uni, red patch on white uni). After that they wore matching patches. Starting I believe with the Nike sweaters, the logo has been embroidered directly.

This new logo belongs in the same trash bin as huggy bear...

They have shootouts. That doesn't count as hockey. I'm pretty sure if the ECAC sued for the name, they'd win on that rationale alone.
