"The Sharks were relentlessly physical in the clubs' fifth meeting in 5½ weeks, from Rob Davison's one-sided fight with Josh Gratton to Doug Murray's open-ice hits and Clowe's tough play in front of the net. Coach Ron Wilson loves his team's transformation since that awful night in Glendale."

Is this the first time Doug has earned a star?

Quote from that article:

"This time the rugged blueliner [Murray] lined up Mike Zigomanis who had his head down looking for the puck.  Suffice it to say that Zigomanis joined the puck on the ice."

Murray's hits, in case anyone's interested, are at the 00:10 and 3:06 marks of the video. The announcement of the 3 stars of the game is at 4:40.

Leneveu has picked up his play as of late.  He picked up the first star in his game last night after stopping 32 of 34 shots.  And he has a 93.8 save percentage his last five games.

While Cornell was playing Brown Saturday night, the Binghamton Senators [including Ryan Vesce and Charlie Cook] were playing in Syracuse and the game was televised in central NY.  I was at Lynah but recorded the game to watch later.  Binghamton went down 1-4 but came back to tie 4-4 in regulation -- Ryan had one of the comeback goals and an assist on the tying goal.  Still tied after OT so on to the shoot out.  Both Ryan and Charlie scored in the shootout for Binghamton who pulled out the victory [3-2 in the shootout] -- 5-4 final score.  Great to see two recent Cornell hockey alums still playing the game they love and doing so successfully!

Or, if you have digital cable you can watch it on channel 577 for those that are in the Syracuse broadcast area.

It's worth mentioning that the article was written by Michael Sharp '00, a former Daily Sun sports editor.

A Doug Murray hit is featured on "NHL Plays of the Week" on the NHLVideo channel on Youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3Di4MdCuGI ).  It's at 3:45.

Nice Dave McKee mention on XM radio 204, Home Ice, this morning.  They were doing the post-all-star game debrief on hockey in Dallas, and after mentioning the growth in the number of sheets and travel teams, McKee was prominently mentioned as a local boy making good.  No linkage with Cornell, but still, good to hear.

More face time for Murray, sounds like he is finding his place with the Sharks.  Two hits in this clip:

They actually interview Murray between periods in this clip.  Is it me or has his english gotten better?
