Memorial Day weekend in Philadelphia. What could be more fun?

It seems that the NCAA is bringing their traveling lacrosse show to Philly for the Division 1 semi-finals and finals, with a bonus day of Division II and Division III finals, too.

Anyway, it is certainly far too early to project that the ol' alma mater might actually be playing on Saturday, May 27 at the Linc. But, if we dream as much, it makes sense to begin thinking seriously about getting a collection of tickets for said weekend. They're relatively inexpensive for 3 days' worth of entertainment. Interestingly enough, all the good seats are already sold out.

The point of this ramble, though, is to find out if we can organize a "group" of 20+ to (a) get a discount on the tickets, and (b) sit with some cyber-pals and/or fellow Cornellians.

Since I live in the area, I can pretty much commit to going, pending approval by SWMBO(*). I'm just curious if there are enough optimists in the crowd to get a gang of 20+ together before we actually know CU will be playing.

Hillel, do you know if the Cornell Club of Philly has done any organizing around this? I don't recall seeing anything, but I'm not the most plugged-in guy as it relates to CCoP stuff.

There's nothing planned at the moment, but if Cornell makes the Final Four in Philly, you better believe the Cornell Club of Greater Philadelphia will rock the house some way or another. I'll be the guy in the fetal position in my car trying not to hyperventilate. I can't even think about it. My brain will implode.

The lax finals are always graduation weekend. Well, if 'always' extends only back to my lax-consciousness of 3 or 4 years.

Anyway, I'm considering it. If Cornell's there, I'll be there. If not, I'm not sure. But it still has a few things going in its favor, such as the fact that I actually have a 4 day weekend that week.

I certainly HOPE I'm committed to graduation.

I'm only in if Cornell is in (and even then, there is a SWMBO issue...)

I am going to have to count on Hillel and CCP to hook me up.

Likewise.

One never wants to count one's chickens, but fans in the Mid-Atlantic may want to begin to think about checking out the NCAA quarterfinals. This year's quarters are being hosted by Stony Brook (Sat., May 20) at their awesome newish built-for-lax facility and by Towson (Sun., May 21). Either way, if Cornell gets that far, they should play within reach of thousands of alumni and friends.

Edit:  Won't be there either way.

Will be in Vegas.
