Sigh.... if Rob Koll had called me a day (or preferably a week) earlier, you might have seen a portion of the pep band at the match on TV.  As it happened I got his message this morning.

Cornell wins 30-3.
Tyler Baier and Jerry Rinaldi add victories before we lose the heavyweight finale.

Wow. And on the heels of skunking Princeton yesterday.  This is a hell of a team.

ugarte...

set yourself up a wishlist for category sports, keyword cornell. pretty much all it's ever gotten for me has been cstv stuff, but i figure it'll catch anything i don't know about, anything i froget to tape..

also, as with almost all cstv programming, i'd be shocked if they don't rerun it.

Also available on Comcast/on demand/sports/cstv/wrestling.  NOTHING on the hockey link, though.  I'm hoping Friday's Clarkson game shows up at some point, but their on demand offererings seem very hit or miss.

3am tonight...or tomorrow morning, if you prefer.[/q]Thanks Al. I only wish that I had known that the tournament ran over 2 hours. The recording cut off before the 194 and Hwt. matches.

Scott Kominkiewicz

Uh, who was that guy with red body paint and tight shorts doing the cheerleading?  Maybe it works when experiencing it live.  Looked scary on TV.  He looked strong enough to be a wrestler.  Is he a former grappler?

He's really scary in person.  His neck is the size of my thighs and I'm a soccer player.  I can't think of his name but we have mutual friends, and he is a former wrestler.  His name will come to me but this will have to do for now...edit: Mark McGaurn http://cornellbigred.collegesports.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/mcgaurn_mark00.html booya!

To be clear:  That's a CSTV replay on DirecTV 610, not availability at Comcast OnDemand.

Update on a recruit for next year:

[Q]NICKERSON REACHES MILESTONE

His wrestling resume is already rather lengthy -- the most notable of his achievements five national titles and a record-tying four state titles -- but Chenango Forks senior Troy Nickerson managed to add another noteworthy achievement on Tuesday in the Blue Devils' 46-16 victory at Maine-Endwell.

With his 22-second pin of M-E's Anthony Pedro in a 140-pound bout, Nickerson earned the 200th varsity victory.

Though a record-setting fifth state title remains his priority, Nickerson acknowledged reaching the milestone was gratifying.

"It was something I would have hoped to accomplish along the way," said Nickerson, who is now 200-6. "It's a lot of wins, and a lot of good (wrestlers) haven't been able to reach that goal.

"I'm glad to reach the milestone, but I'm focused right now on moving past it and keep working toward the state tournament." [/Q]

another Update:

Nickerson cruises into semifinals

[Q]BINGHAMTON -- Chenango Forks' Troy Nickerson barely broke a sweat Friday, pinning Corning's Don Bower in 20 seconds to move into the Division I 125-pound semifinals of the Section 4 Wrestling Championships at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Nickerson, a four-time state champion, is seeking a trip to the state tournament in two weeks at the Pepsi Arena in Albany. There, he will attempt to win a New York State record-setting fifth state wrestling title. [/Q]
