Ok, so we know that it's the first time we lost at home since: Dartmouth (3-5) on 1/12/2002

When was the last time Cornell did not get a win in a weekend at home:

1 game weekend: Quinnipiac (2-2 T) 1/06/2001

2 game weekend: SLU(T) (1-3)  03/05/1999 , Clarkson (1-4) 3/06/1999.  This was the final weekend of the 98-99 campaign, before being bounced in the first round of the ECAC playoffs at Princeton.

It's also been a long time since Cornell's overall record was below .500 - since November 17, 2000.  The next night the Big Red beat Brown 2-0 to get back to 2-2-1, and stayed at or above .500 until Saturday night's loss.

Facts are facts, it's been a fair amount of time (not really "long") that we've strung some losses together, and there will be any number of such facts this year.

At the same time, my first winless Lynah weekend was my first Lynah weekend, and the team failed to make the playoffs in each of my first three years, so... everything's relative.

The idea is not to be down about it.  Two straight RS titles, three straight ECAC finals, two straight Ivy titles, an ECAC championship, and the first trip to the Frozen Four in 23 years buys *a lot* of recuperation time, if they need it.

This year (and even next year) is in my mind a freebie for achievements -- whatever happens, happens.  As was said above, In Schafer We Trust.  If we get to Albany we ought to be turning cartwheels.

True, but if it's all the same with you, I'd much rather Cornell make a repeat appearance at the Frozen Four this year.  In other words, while I'm preparing for the likely worst, I'm also hoping and praying for the absolute best that this year's squad can give us.  We all know they have the potential to go far; now we just need them to capitalize on that potential.
